Mardi Gras Float Contest

St. Anthony Student Council will be hosting a Mardi Gras rally at school; and in addition, we would like to start the first annual Mardi Gras Float Contest. To conclude the rally, we would like to have a parade of home-made Mardi Gras floats. If you are interested in making a float for the parade, the entry forms will be in the office. The float will need to be on some type of wagon that is able to fit through the gym door.  It needs to be light enough for one or two students to be able to pull it. There is no limit to how many students can work on a float together; and groups of students do not have to be in the same grade. We hope you are able to gather some friends, get an entry form from the office, and start designing! Mardi Gras (February 25th) is just around the corner!

Did you know..

Mardi Gras is a French term, which literally translates into “Fat Tuesday”. Also known as Shrove Tuesday, it falls on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. In order to get ready for all those days of fasting, many people would traditionally eat a lot of fatty food just before Lent  and particularly on the last day – hence “Fat Tuesday”. In many parts of the world, Mardi Gras has grown into a celebration in its own right with carnival celebrations and parades happening all over the world.

Annual Pancake Breakfast
