Date Night!

Our next Date Night is Saturday, February 15th at 5pm! Kids, ($10 per family), will have a "Science Night" filled with dinner, experiments, and a fun movie while parents are encouraged to come for a short adult informational time, followed by a date off campus. Register online at gspc.org - children and families.

Movie - "Overcomer"

Join the Good Shepherd showing of Overcomer, the inspirational movie for the whole family, on Sunday, February 16th at 2:30pm in our Sanctuary. This acclaimed film by the Kendrick Brothers tells the story of an unlikely match up of an asthmatic cross country runner and her reluctant coach.

All Aboard for VBS July 20th-24th

Join our crew as we learn about how Jesus' power can pull us through life's ups and downs. Rocky Railway is filled with incredible Bible-learning experiences kids can see, hear, touch, and even taste! Registration will open in mid-May at gspc.org

Adults

Stephen Ministers

Good Shepherd is in the midst of starting a new class for prospective Stephen Ministers. We need to find men and women of our congregation who are willing to answer Jesus' call to serve as new Stephen Ministers, which begins with 50 hours of stimulating and useful training in Christian caring skills. This training will be led by a joint training team from Good Shepherd and Grace Community Church in Seal Beach. All training sessions will be held on the Good Shepherd campus. Think and pray about this opportunity. If you decide you would like to be a Stephen Minister, please contact Marie Crenshaw, Diana Klimek or Pastor Bryan and we can talk about how you can get started. Training for this exciting ministry will start on Tuesday, February 11th at 6:30pm. 

New Bible Study - 1 & 2 Kings

Begins Sunday night, February 16th, from 6-8pm in the Fireside Room. Kirk and Sue Brown, leaders. 

GriefShare

Those who are mourning the death of a loved one are invited to join the next session of GriefShare, a faith-based support group for understanding and healing of the grief process. The series begins with orientation on Tuesday, February 25th in the Patio Room, and continues each Tuesday for 13 weeks from 10-12pm. Family Camp @ Forest Home

Family Camp held at Forest Home over Memorial Weekend is May 22nd-25th.The cost for kids are offset by the church. Act fast, our rooms at Forest Home are no longer reserved. Register at gdshp.ch/familycamp. After you are registered, contact Thea in the church office so she can process scholarships for your kids.   

Salt Shakers

Interested in Salt Shakers but missed the deadline for sign ups? Not to worry, we always need substitutes when someone can't attend their group meeting. Senior Adults

Trip - March Air Field Museum

On February 6th we will travel to March Air Field Museum and enjoy a docent guided tour of the exhibits located indoors and a guided tour aboard an electric tram of the flightline outdoors. Cost: $40. Time: 8:30-4:30pm. Lunch will be on your own at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant. Sign up at the Senior Adult table on the Patio. Email Carol Jaeger, Director of Senior Ministries, at carol@gspc.org with questions.   

Game Night

Single Seniors are invited for fun and fellowship on Friday, February 7th from 6:30-9pm in the Fireside Room. Plan to join us!   

Luncheon

Join us on Wednesday, February 19th,12 noon, in Zirbel Hall as we welcome back Mike Chamberlain, aka "The Singing TV Guy." After 35 years as a TV News/Sports Anchor, Mike has turned his attention to full time music performing. Cost: $5. Sign up at the Senior Ministry table on the Patio.   

Women

SOLO

There will be an initial gathering of those who signed up to participate in a new Life Group, SOLO, for single women. We will be discussing next steps, tentative scheduling, interest in topical areas, and just making introductions. If you are still interested in being a part of this group, please meet us in the Patio Room between services (approximately 10am) on Sunday, February 9th.          

Good Shepherd Literary Women

Meets on Saturday, February 8th, 9:30am in the Fireside Room. Discussion on "Olive Again" by Strout. Join us!         

Courtesy Meals

This ministry provides meals to Good Shepherd members, or their families, who have recently welcomed a new child, who are ill, recovering from surgery, or any other life changing event. Please contact Sue Whited at sewhited@verizon.net or 562/924.3803.

Pledge Your Support in 2020  

Pledge your financial support to Good Shepherd in 2020 with a pledge card in the Narthex or at gspc.org

Quilters  

Meets on Monday, February 3rd at 7pm in the Round Room #4. All are welcome!   

Patio Host Needed  

A patio host is needed for the 3rd Sunday of each month. Responsibilities include setting up and supplying coffee and water between services. Please call Theresa Whitehead at 562/431.8070 (home), or 714/307.0469 (cell) if interested.
