Dear wolf advocate:

In 2018, two northern Minnesota trappers in Itasca County (near Grand Rapids) were charged with 67 offenses, including setting illegal wire snares and neglecting to check them, and gross over-limits of wild animals, including bears, wolves, deer, and other wildlife, over the course of two years. In total, their traps took seven gray wolves, two black bears, and two deer out-of-season, along with other wildlife.

The cruel behavior of these men is unacceptable.

Howling For Wolves has been actively watching this case through multiple years and court appearances. The trappers requested delay after delay - and have pled "not guilty."

The cruel behavior of these men is unacceptable.

Two years after the initial charges, a trial for one of the trappers is set for next month on February 11, and the other in May, in Grand Rapids at the Itasca County Courthouse. If you'd like to keep in touch and receive continued updates on this issue – and even to attend the trial with a group of wildlife supporters to show your support – please reply to this email and we will be in touch.

Let’s show them that the cruel behavior of these men is unacceptable. Minnesota deserves better than this. Extreme cruelty must be punished. Thank you for supporting Minnesota wildlife!
