To those of you found Washpool because of the incredible Buy from the Bush and One Day Closer to Rain initiatives, we wanted to say a quick thank you and give you a little more info about who we are, what we stand for and what we're up to.
Thank you to everyone who purchased their Christmas presents from us or from any rural and regional business. The Buy from the Bush campaigns really did make a difference, with the flow-on effect being both astounding and heartwarming.
We've finally had some rain!
Last year was a particularly challenging one. We had our lowest ever rainfall recorded with 256.8mm (average is 762.1mm per year). We have been very lucky to receive around 100mm in the past couple of weeks, which has soaked right in and greened the grass. We haven't had that much runoff into local dams and waterways, but most of the household tanks in the region are full for the first time in a long long time. With more rain predicted for much of Queensland over the next few days, we're looking forward to a long soak in the bath.
For those of you who aren't familiar with our story and location - we are situated in Ballandean, about 20 minutes south of Stanthorpe in Queensland. We're in the middle of Granite Belt Wine Country. The Granite Belt is a wonderful tourist destination and we highly recommend you take a road trip to visit our beautiful region.
The Apple & Grape Harvest Festival is coming up 28 February - 8 March. Come along and try all the local food & wine and celebrate harvest with us.

"I started traditional shaving last year, and first purchased another brand's natural shave soap. I could never get a good lather from it, it was like soap suds almost. I thought it might either be my technique, or a good lather was not possible with a natural product. I powered through the whole container. When it came time to re-order, I decided to try a different brand and found Washpool. The product arrived today and I used it tonight. It produced a robust, almost effortless lather that did not fade away while I was shaving. It felt like cream, rather than soap suds. What a difference! I can now see that I will enjoy traditional shaving as I originally intended, rather than being frustrated by it. This is a great formula, I will continue to purchase this now, as long as its made."

I would like to praise Washpool for their wonderful products. Genuine all natural. My scalp was covered in dandruff and eczema. After trying all supposedly organic shampoos etc with no success. My scalp is as healthy as it should be now after using only their soap. Leaves my hair clean and shiny.

I wanted to give you feedback on your Rosemary Mint shampoo bar. I've found it to be the best shampoo I've ever used. It leaves my hair feeling squeaky clean, but not dry at all. Also, it's crazy voluminous too. I've let the family try it too and they are very impressed also, so I will be ordering more!

We're all back on deck and ready for the new year. As you might know, most of our staff are parents and we don't usually make products over the school holidays. This year because of the success of the Buy from the Bush campaign I've roped my whole family into helping make soaps and other products to keep up with demand. We're starting to catch up and most items should be restocked very soon.

The Washpool Difference
Washpool is a small rural soaperie in Ballandean, Queensland. We believe in being small enough to listen and being big enough to deliver. We believe in hand made and we take pleasure in providing meaningful employment to people living in our rural community.
We take a minimalist approach to handcrafting our soap bars. Wholesome ingredients, purposefully selected. We believe that health comes first and beauty follows. Our customers value authenticity, simplicity and purity.
Wherever possible, we choose to source our ingredients locally, often direct from the growers. When we purchase ingredients from further afield we place great emphasis on using ethical, organic, fair trade and sustainably produced raw ingredients. Our packaging is biodegradable, recycled and recyclable where possible.
Our products include cold-pressed edible oils, butters and milks, extracts, infusions, activated and whole botanicals along with clays, honey, fruit and vegetables. Basically, ingredients you can recognise, most of which are edible.
