NEW MENTAL HEALTH TECH ADVANCEMENTS

An algorithm designed to reduce the burden on mental healthcare services has been developed.  Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust has launched the Management and Supervision Tool (MaST) across all its Community Mental Health Teams.

Using predictive analytics, practitioners can now, at a glance, identify which service users might be at greatest risk of using crisis services and which might be ready to continue their recovery in the primary care sector.

MaST allows the practitioner to prioritise their interventions and move to a preventative rather than treatment focused model of care. The full article explains the technology and the benefits of use in more detail.
EMBRACING VEGANISM THE HEALTHY WAY

With increasing numbers of people embracing veganism, it’s important to ensure healthy levels of vitamin intake. If you are vegan or planning to switch to  veganism,  this vitamin B12 article  may be useful in helping you plan well-balanced diets.
GOING TO WORK WITH A COLD

Should staff continue to work when they have a cold?  What attitude should employers take?  In our sector, where we often interact with clients who are older and/or in poor health, the following advice is particularly pertinent.  ‘People, particularly if they are in caring roles, should "take into account factors like whether they are likely to come into contact with vulnerable groups, such as young children, pregnant women, or the elderly".  You can read more here.
