Friends and supporters,

Happy New Year! Thanks to your generosity, FAIR Girls is off to a strong start in 2020. Because of your financial support we were able to exceed our end-of-year fundraising goal! Because of your support Thank you to all of our supporters - new and long-standing - for your commitment to eradicating human trafficking and for making it possible for FAIR Girls to continue to positively impact the lives of the survivors we serve. Due to your generous in-kind donations, we were also able to provide meaningful gifts and holiday activities for our clients and we wanted to share with you their joyful holiday experience below.

January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, an important time of year for service providers and advocates to raise awareness about human trafficking. We focus this month on educating our communities about what trafficking looks like...and what it doesn't, and to discussing how we can all better work together to effectively combat it.

This month consider the ways you too can lift up the voices and stories of survivors and raise awareness about human trafficking in your own communities by sharing our mission and life-saving work.

Join FAIR Girls for Some Fun Fundraising Events in Febuary!

Join FAIR Girls during Cheverly's annual potluck dinner-dance "The Sweetheart Charity Ball" on Saturday, February 8 at 7pm at St. Ambrose Church.

This year's Ball will feature great dance music including swing, samba, waltz, and more by Dino and Friends. Proceeds from the event will benefit FAIR Girls' Vida Home as well as Sasha Bruce Youthwork's Promise Place Shelter, and St. Ambrose Parish Conference of Vincent de Paul.

Tickets are now available for $25 or $200 for a table of ten. All donations are tax-deductible. Last year's event sold out, so make sure you get your tickets today by clicking this link. Need to show yourself a little love during the frigid winter months? Need to engage in a little retail love? Want to make a difference? Come fill those needs while helping FAIR Girls fill the needs of trafficking survivors.

Your Impact in Action

The holiday season is a time of celebration and a chance to reconnect with family and friends, but it can also be a difficult time for our survivors at the Vida Home. For Jordan, the prospect of another Christmas without her family filled her with dread and sadness. But as we sat around the dining table decorating our gingerbread houses with spice drops and M&M’s and singing our favorite Christmas carols, Jordan felt she finally had a holiday to look forward to.

Making gingerbread houses was only one of the many activities at FAIR Girls planned for the survivor residents during the holidays. Staff and survivors worked together to decorate the Vida Home, including decorating the Christmas tree with lights and candy canes, making homemade ornaments, baking sugar cookies, and hanging Christmas stockings.

On Christmas Eve, the survivors had a movie night in the Vida Home where they spent the night together. As the clock struck twelve, they all rushed over to the Christmas tree and were in awe as they ripped open their presents. Jordan was ecstatic to finally have a blow dryer of her own. Vanessa, who has been going through a difficult time, couldn't wait to use her new weighted blanket. And when Kisha saw she had all received a tablet, she quietly remarked “I have always had difficulty reading. Now with this tablet, I can read along with the audio.” On Christmas morning FAIR Girls staff celebrated with survivors a joyous holiday brunch.

FAIR Girls has provided more than 1,000 girls and young women with safe housing, client- centered, trauma-informed direct services, and life skills they need to transition from victim to survivor, in pursuit of our mission to end human trafficking, one life at a time.
