Greetings and Happy New Year!

As we ski/sled/snowshoe/(insert your preferred winter activity) into the new year, I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to our end-of-2019 membership drive! Your investment will help us implement a long list of projects and programs in 2020: the WRP team is busy planning for river-side tree plantings (3,700 stems and counting!), a culvert replacement, a dam removal, a floodplain & wetland restoration, and three river corridor easement projects plus water quality monitoring, White River Water Trail stewardship, school-based education programs, and more! See the News & Events section below for a snapshot of the WRP's work in January.

I also want to say THANK YOU to all of the landowners, volunteers, stewards, school groups, businesses, towns, technical partners, and funders who made our 2019 work possible. We welcome inquiries about opportunities to get involved in 2020, and will highlight upcoming events and volunteer opportunities in this monthly e-newsletter and on our website, Facebook page, and Instagram page.

Finally I'm looking forward to the kick-off of our winter fundraising dinner series at 5 Olde Tavern in South Royalton on Monday, January 27 and hope to see many of you there!

Sincerely,

Mary Russ, Executive Director

Trout in the Classroom program underway

WRP staff and volunteers delivered 1,600 brook trout eggs to 16 White River schools this month to kick-off the 2020 Trout in the Classroom (TIC) program. The WRP partners with the Greater Upper Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited to engage local students in the TIC program as part of our Monitoring the White River education program.
