Thurman Williams, church planter and pastor of New City Fellowship - West End, began a NXTGEN cohort in January. This cohort is but one expression of the mission of New City..."to show God’s love to widows, orphans, immigrants, and refugees of St. Louis". An aspect of that outreach is to raise up new leaders. This cohort, a mix of students and pastors from various churches and traditions gather together monthly to work through the soft skills needed for pastoral health.

After only meeting twice, interest from others has caused this cohort to grow, and now there is potential for several more cohorts to start soon in the St Louis area. Given the proximity to and support of Covenant Seminary in St. Louis, NXTGEN is looking for more experienced pastors to serve as mentors to come alongside those in preparation for ministry as well as those already serving. Will you support NXTGEN by praying for new mentors to be raised up and trained? Would you support NXTGEN financially to multiply cohorts such as this one?
Do you want to be a mentor?
NXTGEN offers an introduction to mentoring through four, one-hour zoom meetings each month. There is no cost or future commitment required. This format introduces you to the NXTGEN model of mentoring and, if you are interested, you can have access to the NXTGEN curriculum for your own NXTGEN Cohort.
Future Training Dates
  • March 4, 11, 18, 23 (Wednesdays) at 10 am CT.
  • April 7, 14, 21, 28 (Wednesdays) at 3pm CT
If interested or if you would like more information, contact me at chrisvogel@ngpastors.com. Let me know which month you will attend and I will send you a Zoom link for the video conference.
New NXTGEN Module
Where would Paul have been without Silas, or Joshua without Caleb? God calls many of us to serve His people from the position of the second chair, as an assistant or associate pastor. This module, developed from Bonem's book, Thriving in the Second Chair, guides those contemplating or engaged in such a calling to find not only satisfaction, but kingdom impact from such a place of service. Whether one is preparing to begin serving the church or presently functioning as an assistant, this one day gathering is designed to get to the heart of the issue for those who are a part of a team.

This module was developed by Sam Brown, Associate Pastor at Trinity Presbyterian in Cleveland, TN where he has served since March of 2018 and prior to that he was a solo pastor in North Carolina for six years. Sam loves being married to Jenny (the world’s most patient woman for twelve years running), wrestling their three sons, and being the assistant coach of the Lee University men’s rugby team.

Prayer Requests
  • As I train new mentors who would be empowered to raise up cohorts.
  • Time and focus to develop new modules or find qualified people who might assist me in developing new curriculum.
  • For the Church Planting Readiness Seminar to be held in Delafield, WI March 13-14, that the couples attending would have greater clarity as to the next steps as they finish seminary.
  • For the Cultural Apologetics, RTS-O class with Dr. Carl Ellis, held in Wisconsin, March 20-21 and April 17-18. For the On Wisconsin cohort students and others attending will greatly benefit from the class.
