Weekly News
Dear friends,
This Sunday is the 3rd in Ordinary Time.
In the Gospel reading from Matthew, Jesus begins his preaching ministry. This is a key moment in Jesus' life, he leaves forever his childhood town of Nazareth and makes his way to Galilee. This is where he will spend his adult life until he makes his way to Jerusalem for the events of the Passion.
We all have these moments in life, when we have to leave things behind to face an unknown future. In this moment Jesus calls for repentance, a turning back to God. it is good to be reminded that although things in life change, God is always a contrast source of strength when we turn back to him.
On the 13th February we begin a series of 8 lunchtime concerts in partnership with the charity AgeUK. I am looking for volunteers to help welcome and serve tea and coffee and also to bake cakes. If you can help at any of these Thursday events then speak to me or sign the sheet at the back of church.
See you on Sunday
Fr James
