On Again, Off Again, Gone Again...

If you happen to be following our blog, you know that our summer plans went back and forth for a while. In January I purchased flights for our regularly scheduled July-August home assignment. In March I announced our plans (with reservations of a different kind) and in June I announced that we are not coming back to the States this year. Our home assignment will be postponed to 2021. As it turns out, there are several advantages to shifting our schedule by one year.

More On Again, Off Again

There were some other on agains, off agains in the last six months. On February 7 I published a post about my ministry plans for 2020. On February 10 a crisis "blew up" in our local church, and then the coronavirus hit in March and now, all of a sudden, ministry plans need to be adjusted. (I won't be saying much more about 'the crisis' but it means I have some additional responsibility for ministry in our local church).

Despite some setbacks, some good things have happened in the last six months as well. Jana had quite the adventure in her first year of teaching religion classes to first graders (kids do say the darndest things). I've sent one of my creation articles to a journal hoping it will be accepted for publication. And I've also completed posts 8 and 9 in my series on The Evangelical's Creation Conundrum. The first is called Creation is a Temple: The Temple as a Meme in the Ancient Near East and Genesis 1 and the second is Creation is a Temple: Moses’ Brilliant Literary and Theological Move in Genesis 1.

We very tentatively announced our 2020 home assignment just before the CoVid lockdown and then announced its postponement in June. You might want to know why postponing to 2021 works out well for our ministry and family.
