Bringing in the New Year with Hope and Love

Steps to Recovery Homes had a productive year. We helped a lot of individuals embrace faith and their purpose. They have started a path to a new productive life style. We love that our community and the people in it have been so supportive in helping our organization grow. We will continue to show our appreciation.

Last year we had a lot of changes, and plenty of struggles. We are growing and evolving. Our program continues to become stronger and more of our clients are finding long-term recovery as a result.

Unfortunately, we have had to temporarily close our women’s facility. We were unable to find a qualified House Supervisor with the money we had budgeted for that position. Our plan is to work on a campaign to raise funds in order to secure a women’s House Supervisor. We are looking to find ways to buy our own women’s facility, this will allow us to be sustaining for years to come in the Verde Valley. We want to be able to offer a person that is interested in the growth of the individual woman and our organization a competitive wage in order to encourage their involvement and investment.

Nick's Testimony

I wanted to share a little bit on what Steps to Recovery Homes has meant to me. I came here with no real desire to continue my life. I had lost everything that mattered to me to addiction. The biggest loss of all was my self esteem. It is a long road to freedom, one of the biggest things this program has done for me is keep that road shorter. One step at a time, with support from everyone at steps to recovery I have been given the most valuable gift of all. Hope.

-Nick D.

Is the AZ State Tax Credit really that simple?

REMEMBER it’s not too late to list Steps to Recovery Homes as your non-profit organization to support this year!!
We save lives every day, and you can help without spending a dime by using us for your Arizona State Tax Credit. Keep your tax dollars local with the Arizona tax credit!

As Americans, a percentage of our earned income is taxed by our federal and state governments. If left alone, we have little control over where this money goes and often surrender it to programs outside our local communities.

Utilizing tax credits is a tangible way to ensure our hard-earned income is returned directly to organizations and programs that make an impact in our local economy.

Data from AZ's Department of Revenue shows that Yavapai County maxed out its available funds for the School Tax Credit but fell considerably short on the available funds for the Charitable Tax Credit, suggesting many community members are not aware of the opportunity to easily support their local non-profits.

BONUS! YOU GET TO DECIDE WHERE YOUR TAX MONEY GOES!

  • Building Fund: We are currently working on starting a campaign to raise money to restructure and reopen our underfunded Women’s Facility. Other visions are to purchase buildings for our own store and warehouse.

  • Job Development: Our Job Development Program teaches clients to deal with life on life’s terms. We teach them to write resumes, acquire interview skills, obtain interview clothes, and give them an understanding of what will be expected of them in a professional environment. All this while working to pay their own way in life. This program has increased our success rate dramatically, but we need more funding.

  • Scholarship Fund: You can choose for your tax dollars to fund scholarships for incoming clients.

  • Education Fund: You can have your money go toward Education and Awareness with our Annual Erase the Stigma Day.

  • Household Fund: Your money can go towards Cleaning Supplies, or other goods for our clients.

  • Transportation Fund: Your money can go toward transportation for our clients to get them to meetings, appointments, interviews, events, life coaching and other requirements in the program.

  • Event Fund: Your money can go directly to our events such as, The Northern Arizona Roots Music Festival, The Dinner for Hope, Camping, Appreciation Day and other events we do.

  • General Fund: Your money can go directly to operating expenses. This is one of our most needed funding sources as we need staff to provide the resources that are so essential to our clientele.

  • Documentary: Your money can go directly to our professional documentary that will raise awareness, allow us to reach more people to help find recovery and to get more people involved. Our hope is this will be another source to find funding to become self-supporting. We plan to get this documentary into Film Festivals around the country.

Dear fellow supporter of the Sedona / Verde Valley Community,
Steps to Recovery Homes is getting ready for our 6th Annual Dinner for Hope Fundraising Event. The sole purpose of this event is to raise funds in order to fulfill our mission throughout the year. We are able to do this while raising awareness about the addiction issues and solutions in our community while having a blast.

This event is March 29, 2020 at the Blazin’M Ranch, from 3 pm to 7 pm. This includes a great buffet, musical entertainment, testimonies from graduates of our recovery program, raffles, door prizes, and auction items.

Addiction affects everyone, whether you have an employee not showing up for work, a difficult time finding someone that can pass a drug test, or someone stealing from you. This dilemma also affects our neighborhoods, our children, and our schools.

Nationally, only about 11 percent of individuals who meet the Substance Use Disorder criteria receive treatment. Mainly, this is the result of no funding. This is where we come in, and you can help. 90% of our clients come in with no money or family support. We take them off the streets and teach them how to be accountable, finding a new way to live while being productive to society. For those who fall through the cracks, we offer job development and teach behavioral skills that start them on a path to real recovery to become an asset to themselves and their families. We believe that people really do want to change, but are lacking the guidance, skills and environment to do so. Steps to Recovery Homes provides that guidance in a safe structured environment.

You can support by donating professional services, and/or retail items for raffle, auctions and/or door prizes or sponsor this event. Tickets may be purchased at Dinner for Hope Tickets Individual $75 Table (14 seats) $1,000.

Sponsorships are available at the following levels:

This year’s 6th Annual Dinner for Hope will be held at The Blazin' M Ranch in Cottonwood, AZ. This event includes a First-Class Dinner, Musical Entertainment, Raffles, Door prizes, Auction items, and testimonies from graduates of our recovery program.

We are looking for contributions for our auction and raffle. Please get involved and help us save lives!

Miracles Happen ReSale Store

This is the best kept secret in the Verde Valley. Miracles Happen every day at our store. It is 3,700 square foot of awesomeness!!!

This year we hope to make our store even more amazing, if that is possible. We opened the new boutique and have an amazing staff. Coupled with our new warehouse manager and online sales, we are moving forward to get great items in the hands of everyone in the Verde Valley?

Don’t forget we are happy to come pick up your gently used items to help support our cause.  We pick up from anywhere in the state.

Besides working with other organizations and donating many items to people in need, we have many sales and discounts throughout the month. We have a new Loyalty Card! Come in and get yours today.

We also do house clean outs, and dump runs. Call us up for more details at 928-649-7439

Miracles Happen Tee Shirts

Our new store manager and graphic designer come up with our first Miracles Happen Resale Shirt and everyone loves them. We all wore them at the Christmas Parade in December where we handed out over 1000 toys ( which was actually not enough - every year we work on getting enough toys to give every child a toy. It seems like we need about 3,000 more toys. So all year we will be collecting toys for next years parade. ) We might make another round and order more as people are buying them.

Job Development – Workforce

Since starting our job development program, we have substantially increased our success rate. More and more clients are finding long-term recovery!

Our Job Development Program teaches clients to deal with life on life’s terms. They learn to write resumes, acquire interview skills, obtain interview clothes, and an understanding of what will be expected of them in a professional environment. All this while working to pay their own way in life. This program has increased our success rate dramatically, but we need more funding.

Not only are we empowering the client, we are creating a sustainable workforce in our community.

This amazing program is looking for businesses to get involved in many ways. We are also looking to expand to help others outside of our program, do vocational and career development eventually.

To do this we need investors. volunteers or foundations to get involved.

Documentary – Turning Despair into Hope

“Making Recovery Possible for Everyone”

Steps to Recovery Homes is an organization that was formed in 2013 with a Vision to help people that are struggling with addiction to have an affordable option to obtain long-term recovery. We know thereare many variables that would go into the program, if we were going to give the client the environment and resources to meet.

This is where the non-profit was formed. We knew we would need help in order to create such a program and keep it alive in the Verde Valley for years to come. We have worked vigilantly over the last 6 years to becoming self-sustaining while maximizing the success rate for our clients.

A lot has been accomplished in this regard. We have opened a resale store to help bring in income while providing resources and skills needed for our clients and the community at the same time. We have just secured our own men’s facility through a loan. This allows the money we were paying for rent to go towards a mortgage and allow the organization to have its own facility for years to come. Besides having a holistic program that includes different methods of behavior modification we also recently started a job readiness program for our clientele.

There is still a long way to go. There are a lot of variables that go into each individual in order to assist them in obtaining and maintaining long-term recovery. These core issues that we address take a lot of resources and the need is big. We need more resources in order to help meet the need.
The program we have put together is working. We need your help to sustain and expand services.
Together we can make a difference.
