1. Today Friday January 24th from 5pm at Chiswick House and Gardens, the Lightopia Festival is open until the end of February. Details and booking

2. Tomorrow, Saturday January 25th at 7.30pm at St. Peter’s Parish Hall, Southfield Road W4, there’s a fundraising event for the Ballet4Life charity, Move into Wellbeing®. 7pm doors open. “My Journey” is a cabaret evening with esteemed performer Brian Bertscher. Tickets £10 at Ballet4life’s classes at St. Peter’s Hall or by reserving on ballet4lifeuk1@gmail.com. Refreshments available.

3. On Sunday January 26th at 10am in St Michael & All Angels Church, it’s a Parish Mass. Preacher: Prof Graham Holderness. Plus Creche (0-3 years), Children’s Church (4-10 years) and Youth Church (in Michael Room for 9.30am). All welcome.
            As you come in, why not tap your card on our Contactless Giving point inside the church doors? We will claim the Gift Aid. 
            At 6.30pm, it’s Evensong. Preacher Fr Thomas Couper, curate.  All welcome.        
 
4. Do you have time you could devote to the St Michael & All Angels Parish Office? The managers are hoping to create rotas for Sunday afternoon caretaker support and Friday afternoon pew sheet folding. And if you have web/graphic design skills or tech/AV skills and could help upgrade the office technology, they would love to hear from you. Please email

5. On Monday 27th from 3pm to 5pm it’s the next Café Conversation session at Avanti, Bedford Corner, W4 1LD, organised by Louise Kaye, to encourage lonely or isolated people to have a cup of tea or coffee and chat to others in a similar situation. All welcome.
            On Wednesday January 29th from 2pm-4pm it’s the next Café Conversation at Cafe Grove, 7 Grove Park Road, W4 3RS.
             
6. Also on Monday 27th from 6.30pm, the Tabard pub in Bath Road W4 will launch an inaugural free Shufl Club - Shuffleboard - evening to help reduce loneliness among young people, as part of Greene King’s No One Alone campaign. Shuffleboard is an informal, communal game for up to eight players per game. Players slide weighted pucks down a specially designed table and aim to land them in high-scoring areas. 7. On Tuesday January 28th at 10.30am (after Mass) at our sister church St Peter’s Acton Green, in Southfield Road, there’s a coffee morning. Please join Fr Thomas Couper for coffee and cake! All welcome.
            On Wednesday afternoons at St Peter’s there are Italian courses for children. See details and booking

Also on Tuesday 28th at 7.30 pm at Chiswick Pier Trust, The Pier House, Corney Reach Way, London, W4 2UG, the next talk is The River’s Archaeological Tale by archaeologist Josh Frost from the Thames Discovery Programme. Doors open at 7 pm. £5 for non-members, free for members. Tel: 020 8742 2713.

9. From Tuesday January 28th to Saturday February 1st at the Chiswick Playhouse above the Tabard, there’s a Festival of new writing – 30 short plays across five nights! Details and booking

            If you’re a writer or work in another creative job in Hounslow, the Great West Creatives Network has launched a newsletter to encourage new connections and collaborations. It’s based at Watermans in Brentford. Read more and sign up here

10. On Thursday January 30th from 8pm to 9pm in St Michael & All Angels Church**,  The Upper Room’s 2020 Winter Lecture series opens with Dame Darcey Bussell, in conversation with Torin Douglas. Admission free, donations welcome. 
            **Note new venue: we have moved the event to St Michael’s to accommodate more people. Because of the large numbers, we shall be opening the doors from 7.15pm, when refreshments will be available. Please register here and bring your ticket

11. On Friday January 31st at 7pm for 7.30 start at St Paul’s Church, Grove Park, it’s the St Paul’s Quiz Night. Tables of eight, or come by yourself, and join a ‘pot luck’ team! 12. On Saturday February 1st at 7.30 for 8pm start, it's the St Michael & All Angels Charities Quiz Night, with a new format. The traditional quiz is accompanied by cheese, wine and puddings. Tables for groups or individuals. Tickets £12.50. Book online – or contact John Clark via

13. On Sunday February 2nd at 10am in St Michael & All Angels Church, it’s Candlemass Family Mass, with singing led by The Choristers.
            At 6.30pm there is Choral Evensong when St Michael & All Angels Choir will be joined by the choir of St Mary’s Church Richmond. All welcome.

14. On Monday February 3rd from 10.30 to 11.30am at The Friendship Club, Oxford Road North, W4 4DN, Age Concern Chiswick begins a series of line dancing sessions for older people.  Open to Members and non-Members, £5 each.  Book a place by calling the ACC Office on a Monday or Thursday: 020 8742 7007.  The location is at the end of a short driveway behind a block of flats called Carfax Court.
 
15. From Wednesday February 5th to Saturday 29th at 7.30pm, the hit thriller Tryst returnsto the Chiswick Playhouse above the Tabard, after a sell-out run when it got 4 and 5-star reviews. Details and booking

            On Monday February 17th, there’s a special performance for members of The Arts Society Chiswick and the Bedford Park Society with a welcome and a glass of wine. If you’re a member, see their emails, explaining how to book tickets.
 
16. Voting is now open to choose the next ‘Fourth Plinth for W4’ artwork for the wall by Turnham Green tube station, where Sir Peter Blake’s Chiswick Empire collage is currently displayed. A panel led by Sir Peter has selected a shortlist of four. Voting closes at the end of February. See more and vote on the Abundance London website
