Upcoming Events

Peak District Artisans exhibition at Castle Park Arts Centre, Frodsham, Cheshire, is fast approaching.
Running from 19th February to 29th March the exhibition will be open to view Mon-Sat 10am-4pm and 1pm-4pm on Sundays. 
On the evening of Friday 21st February we have a Meet the Artists event from 7-9pm. With live music from guitarist Neil Pybus this is set to be a wonderful evening which many of the 25 exhibiting members will be attending. Work on display includes fine art, ceramics, textiles, willow and jewellery

To coincide with the exhibition a number of members are offering the following workshops which will be taking place at Castle Park Arts Centre:

Don't forget our Chatsworth Exhibition Twenty/Twenty Vision continues until Friday 28th February. The exhibition can be found in the Stable Block, in the bright and airy conservatory adjoining the café. 
Other Exhibitions

Maggie Robinson is delighted to be showing two of her ‘Music of the landscape’ paintings in the Royal Society of British Artist’s Exhibition held in the Mall Galleries London from February 20th until February 29th. The Society is dedicated to promoting the highest standards of skill, concept and draughtsmanship in painting , sculpture, printmaking and drawing.

 

Craig Longmuir also has one of his black ink drawings accepted for the RSBA Exhibition. The drawing was created en plein air on Curbar Edge in November 2019.
From 1st February Alison Wake and Pam Smart will have work on permanent display at Gallery in the Gardens, Buxton.  The gallery, run by members of High Peak Artists, is located in the Pavilion Gardens
complex and showcases work by 45 local artists and artisans.  Alison and Pam will be joining existing PDA members Ruth Robinson, Emma Sidwell & Catriona Hall as members of HPA

Can you fall in love with a town?  Well Michela Griffith’s affection for Buxton has only grown during the time she has spent collecting and compositing images for her latest montage Aquae Arnemetiae:  A Town Built on Water which is on display at Buxton Visitor Centre for 2 weeks from 31 January. 
A variety of prints and cards inspired by Buxton and by water will be on display and for sale in the Pump Room.  Come along and find your favourite image of the town.  Open Wednesday to Saturday 10am-4pm and Sunday 10.30am-4pm.


High Stone Gallery will open on the 1st and 2nd February, from 10 am to 4 pm each day. The gallery features the work of PDA member, Ian Daisley, who creates landscape images of Derbyshire and the Peak District.

Watercolour Dragonflies: Wednesday 12th February

Experiment with watercolour effects, explore exciting colour combinations and create beauitifully detailed work inspired by dragonflies. A relaxing day at 'Studio with a View'. All materials and lunch included.

Beginners Acrylics: Tuesday 10th March

Build your confidence with this introduction to acrylics. You will be guided through a range of activities, exploring colour mixing, working with different brushes, layering and painting without brushes. A fun and enjoyable day for complete beginners. All materials, refreshments and lunch included.

Abstract Architecture: Saturday 29th February

Take inspiration from architecture to develop abstract work in mixed media. Develop your drawing skills, experiment with collage and paint to create an original piece of work. Relax and enjoy a creative day. All materials, refreshments and lunch included.

Ruth Gray will be conducting a painting class on March 11 2020 in the Pump Romm and Grand Pavilion, South Parade, Matlock Bath 10am-2pm.

Using a variety of media you will paint a piece of art, taking inspiration from the spa town of Matlock Bath. Materials are included but please bring your own canvas or paper, and wear old clothes.

Pastel artist Sandra Orme is one of the North West’s leading pastel artists and workshop tutor. In this her upcoming workshop at Brantwood in the Lake District, you can explore using layers of pastel on specialist pastel paper, drawing inspiration from the stunning setting of Brantwood, John Ruskin’s home on Coniston Water.   

On day 1, learn to create dramatic pictures with sweeping rain and on day 2, look to blue skies ahead, creating fluffy white clouds against a beautiful blue sky.
