Hello Listeners!

WE HAVE A CORRECTION!!!
Last week I was so excited about my prospective beach volleyball team, that I managed to get Alison's height wrong. I'm the one who's 5'4"; she's 5'0.

Plus, she corrected me on the spelling of her B-girl name. It's short d*fendr.

Of course it's spelled that way! What was I thinking?!?

Hey, one quick favor: If you like this newsletter, please pass it on to a few friends. It being an Olympic year, we want to make sure we find all of our people before Tokyo 2020.

Thank you!

A Peek Behind the Olympic Fever Curtain

One of the reasons we picked The Suspect was because it was a new book, but also because Clint Eastwood's movie Richard Jewell was also out.

While we did talk a little about the movie, we decided not to include it in the final episode partly because Alison hadn't seen it, and partly because I went on a little rant about how much I liked the music in the trailer, only to discover that there's virtually no music in the film itself.

If you have seen the movie, let us know what you thought -- was Paul Walter Hauser robbed of an Oscar nomination?

Speaking of Paul Walter Hauser, this is the second Olympic-related movie he's done. What Olympic story is next for him? My vote's on the Rulon Gardner story.

Our Next Book

Next up for Book Club is:

Games of Deception by Andrew Maraniss, son of our Rome 1960 author David Maraniss! This book talks about basketball at Berlin 1936, the first time it was included in the Olympics. It was great to hear Claire and Andrew talk about the book on this week's episode, and we're looking forward to reading it!

The link above is to Amazon, and if you purchase through that link, we'll get a commission. That money goes to support the many costs involved with producing the show.

However, I'll be honest -- we've had Amazon links for about a year, and although we've earned commissions, we haven't earned enough to get a payout. We'd really appreciate it if you'd get this book through Amazon so we can reach that milestone, end our Amazon association and shift our time and focus to efforts that will help us get some much-needed funding.

Thanks for your ongoing support of the Olympic Fever Book Club. We're really happy that listeners suggested it, and it's become a great element of our show!

Favorite Olympic Moments

Keeping on the theme of Atlanta 1996, Listener Brian shared one of his favorite Olympic moments: Carl Lewis' 4-peat in the long jump. Think about it: He competed in 16 years' worth of Olympics. AND he'd qualified to go to Moscow 1980, but didn't due to the American boycott. What an amazing Olympic career!
Have a favorite Olympic moment that you want to share? Email us a link to the video, and we'll include it in a future newsletter!
