Hindsight is 20/20
Happy Friday! Here’s our 2nd installment in pieces of NCA’s rich heritage, our gratitude for the present, and our hopes for the future. Scroll down to learn more and read what our students say!
Past: Community Historical Facts
St. Ita: St. Ita’s church cornerstone is embedded with a black stone from the ruins of the convent St. Ita founded in Killeedy centuries ago. The inscription on the cornerstone says in Latin: “In a spirit of deepest devotion, this stone was brought to this temple from the ruins of the monastic school of St. Ita in Killeedy, County Limerick, Ireland.”
St. Gregory the Great: St. Gregory the Great parish began its original building fund with many personal financial commitments and the donation of pasture land along Bryn Mawr by Nick Mann. Festivals and parades were sources of fundraising for further building projects. Because of these festivals, Alderman Reinberg saw to it that the previously named Edgewater Terrace was renamed Gregory Street.
Present: What is something you are grateful for at NCA?
Our students have expressed their appreciation for religion in the classroom. Ayelen (3rd grade) says that she is "grateful for learning about Jesus" and Eleanor (3rd grade) says, "I'm thankful for learning about Jesus Christ."
Future: What is something you are excited for or hope to have in the future at NCA?
"At NCA, I hope that I want to learn science." —Hazel (1st grade)
"I hope we can dissect frogs." —Zoe (5th grade)
"Chemistry for third grade" —Darlene (3rd grade)
"In the future I am excited to study snowflakes." Vivienne (PK-4)
