The deadline for this year's open round of the Centred on Learning Innovation Fund (CLIF) grant is February 24, 2020.  The CLIF grant is intended to provide an opportunity to explore innovation in teaching and learning regardless of focus. Read more about the grant.
 

The CTL invites applications for travel grants to participate in teaching and learning conferences.  
 
We particularly invite applications for travel to the annual conference hosted by the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE), which takes place June 9-12, in Ottawa, ON.  The conference theme is a celebration of the 40^th anniversary of the conference and will feature plenary speakers, workshops, interactive sessions, posters, and research presentations.  Visit the conference website.

No Frogs Allowed: Maintaining a Healthy Voice
Tuesday, February 11, 2020, 1:00 - 2:30 p.m.

Participants in this interactive session will receive individualized feedback on their voice use in the classroom. Breathing techniques, pitch, imagery, and intention will be explored and practiced in a real lecture hall. Participants should be prepared to present a short excerpt from a typical lecture. It is recommended that you attend the previous session to get the full use out of this session.

Indigenous Cultural Exploration: Cedar Bath Foot Soak Cleanse 
February 27, 2020, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.  |  McPherson Lounge
Indigenous communities have used cultural traditions and ceremonies over many generations to improve health and well-being (Manitowabi & Gauthier-Frohlick, 2012). This session will immerse you into aspects of Indigenous culture through a cedar bath foot soak cleanse as performed by Niimi Manidoo Consulting.  This session will also include guided meditation along with smudging and hand drum singing. 
 
There is a $25 registration fee for this workshop. Payment may be made by journal entry, cash or cheque payable to "University of Windsor". Payments can be dropped off between 8:30 and 4:30 at the Centre for Teaching and Learning in CEI Room 2260. Please pay by Wed. Feb. 19th, or contact Marilyn Powley at mpowley@uwindsor.ca to make alternate arrangements. Places in the workshop will be confirmed upon receipt of payment.

Indigenization, Decolonization, and Reconciliation

If we want to contribute to systemic change, we need to understand the concepts Indigenization, decolonization, and reconciliation. In this session we will explore these terms and how they are interrelated.

Meaningful Integration of Indigenous Epistemologies and Pedagogies

This session will provide a discussion of Indigenous epistemologies and pedagogies and how these can be interwoven in curriculum design and development.
