Providing a service for those with a short but special life
The Mark Province of Devonshire accompanied R.W. Bro. Peter Hawken, P.P.G.M. and Trustee of the MBF, to North Devon Children’s Hospice at Little Bridge House, where a cheque for £36,362 was presented for their games room project.
The Provincial party was made up of Prov.G.M. R.W. Bro. Peter Balsom, Deputy P.G.M., W. Bro. David Purdie, Assistant P.G.M., W. Bro. John Clendinning, the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Devon Mark Charity Association, namely W. Bro. Trevor Jenkins and W. Bro. Brett Varker along with the Provincial Charity Steward W. Bro. Paul Howard- Baker.
The Prov.G.M. had the honour of breaking off, with the rest of the team forming an orderly 'cue' behind him.

First ever 50 year certificate for Kent Division of Red Cross of Constantine
Wednesday 22 January 2020 saw a unique occasion in the history of the Red Cross Order in Kent when the Grand Sovereign, and Grand Eusebius travelled to St. Eanswythe Conclave No. 260 in Folkestone to present R.Ill.Kt. John Bonomy with a certificate and jewel to mark his 50 years in the Order – the first ever recipient since the Division was created in 1869.
He was the Deputy Intendent General from 1978 to 1990, when he was poached by the Craft/Royal Arch Province of East Kent to become, first the Grand Superintendent, and then the Provincial Grand Master as well until 2004.
A packed temple heard the Grand Sovereign extol John’s contribution to the Order, culminating in 2010 with him being appointed as a Knight Commander of Constantine – a rare honour. More tributes were given, including being presented with the Invictus Award by the Intendent General for Kent, R.Ill. Kt. Nick Alder, before John then reminisced about his love for the Order, and the many memories of people that he had shared over the last 50 years.
The festive board was a very convivial occasion with several fine speeches in tribute to the Conclave (which will also be celebrating its half century later this year) and to John. The evening was made even more special by John’s very generous hospitality throughout.

You'd think he'd like the taste of Haggis by now?
Saturday saw the Mark Province of London's Burns Night celebration in Bournemouth. The address to the 'Great chieftain o the puddin'-race' - haggis to you and me - was given by ProvGM, R.W.Bro. Tom Quinn.
A total of £2,500 was raised for charity including £500 to V.W.Bro Bob Hancock’s lovely lady for her charity, Cherry Trees, and to recognise her great achievement in being awarded the British Empire Medal.

MBF Worthy Causes Committee
The Mark Benevolent Fund Worthy Causes Committee met on
Monday 20 January, and a total of £230,000 funding was approved for six very special charities. We'll bring you further details, and updates on our social media, in the next couple of week's, as soon as we have notified the beneficiaries.

On the Road with Mark Deputy Grand Master, R.W.Bro. John Prizeman
First stop, Wednesday 15 January, was Bognor Regis (Sussex by the Sea) for the Centenary of Hothampton Mark Lodge No.703 - and yes, they knew he was coming so they baked a cake.
Second stop, Friday 17 January, was up to Keynsham in the glorious county of Somerset, for the meeting of Somerdale Lodge of Mark Master Masons No.1608. He was attending as a private guest of R.W.Bro David Nelson P.P.G.M. of Somerset and Worshipful Master of the Lodge, who Advanced Bro. Daniel Allen into the Mark Degree.
The third and final stop of the week, and back to the seaside, was to Bournemouth for the Mark Province of London Burns Night, where he was chaperoned by none less than the Pro Grand Master, M.W.Bro. Raymond Smith and the Assistant Grand Master, R.W.Bro. Stephen Davison.

Kings Heath, Birmingham & the Craft Province of Worcestershire salute V.W.Bro. Stuart Edwards
At last Saturday morning's meeting of Worcestershire Craft Installed Masters' Lodge the ProvGM, R.W.Bro. Robert Vaughan, was delighted to present V.W.Bro. Stuart Edwards PastDepPGM with a certificate for 50 years' service, with over 200 members in attendance.
Stuart is, of course, equally familiar to us as Past Grand Treasurer of the Mark, OSM, Scarlet Cord, AMD, Red Cross of Constantine, Knights Templar & Malta, KBHC and Royal & Select Masters, as well as being a member of the Grand Master's Royal Ark Council.

It's good to feel liked and followed - Mark Masons' Hall and our Grand Secretary are no exception.
