Screenagers Next Chapter


Evergreen PTSA has partnered with Timberline and Inglewood PTSAs to present the documentary film, Screenagers NEXT CHAPTER: Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience. Filmmaker and physician, Dr. Delaney Ruston, takes the conversation around screens and teens to the next level. This new film, a follow up to the original SCREENAGERS, examines the science behind teen’s emotional challenges, the interplay of social media, and most importantly, what can be done in our schools and homes to help them build crucial skills to navigate stress, anxiety, and depression in our digital age. Bridge Club Resumes, Jan. 21


Bridge classes will begin again on January 21, 2020. New students are welcome to join for second semester. 

School Spelling Bee, Jan. 23


This year EMS is participating in the national spelling bee competition and 1 winner from Evergreen will represent our school to compete in the regional Spelling bee in Seattle.

Congratulations to all the winners and participants from the school bee written round held on January 16.

The Final School Spelling Bee will be held on January 23, 6:00- 7:00 pm. The Regional Spelling bee is on February 29.

Ready! Player! Wonderland!


Register now for Evergreen's 2020 Student Theater production of Ready, Player Wonderland! This is an exciting opportunity for middle school students to benefit from a professional stage experience. Students who participate in theater gain self-confidence while strengthening their skills in public speakingteam workproblem solving, and social awareness.

There are 50 spots available, so sign up soon! No previous acting experience is required! Auditions are February 10-12, Performances on March 21.

Your PTSA Needs you!


We are looking for a few positions to round up your PTSA and deliver the best outcomes for our students and staff.
  • Communication Chairs: Our VP of Communications is looking for a few chairs to help manage communication from the PTSA to the EMS community:
    • Webmaster - responsible for managing PTSA website.
    • SharePoint Manager: responsible for managing PTSA Board sharepoint, including user accounts, internal email system, and one drive storage.
    • Social Media Co-Chair: responsible for sending timely information onto PTSA FB group and moderating parents' feedback.
  • VP Advocacy - Focuses on legislative issues related to or affecting our students, staff, school, and district. Attends monthly board meetings. Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator if you are interested!

News from School, ASB and Community


No School on January 20


Next Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. School will be closed.

Annual MLK Spirit Week of Service - January 21 - 23

To honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Evergreen ASB and Leadership students have planned a spirit week and donation drive for the week leading up to the MLK holiday.  Due to the bad weather, we will continue the spirit week from January 21-23. For thee days, we will be collecting donations for Hopefest. School Dance: Out of this World!  Friday, January 24 from 2:55-4:55 pm


Our second dance of the year will take place on Friday, January 24 after school from 2:55-4:55pm.  All students are invited to come dance, watch a movie, purchase snacks at the concession stand, take a selfie at our selfie station, and play on the inflatable.  Dance tickets will be on sale at the cashier window for $5.00 from Tuesday, January 21 – Thursday, January 23 before school and during both lunches. (There are no ticket sales the day of the dance on 1/24). Please remind your child to bring a small bill.
 
We are looking for PTSA volunteers to help hand out dance wristbands during both lunches on Friday, January 24, as well as concessions volunteers and chaperones for the dance.  If you are an approved LWSD volunteer and are willing to help us out, please sign up using the SignUp Genius link here. Email Trish Miller, Activities Coordinator for questions. 
 

Welcome event for new and international families


This event is open to all and specifically directed at families who are new to the United States and relocating to the district. Topics include navigating the school system, how to support your child through transition, how to use Skyward and PowerSchool, etc.  Click here for more information.

Parent Ed: Parenting Toolbox for the Teenage Years


The Eastlake PTSA is excited to host a multi-topic parent education event - "Parenting Toolbox for the Teenage Years." You will hear from school district representatives and community members about some of the topics affecting our kids today, and how parents can build their skills to best help their kids through this challenging time. Don't miss this opportunity to learn how you can help your kids! For more information, see the flyer.

Seeking Nominations for 2020-21 LWPTSA Council Board of Directors

If you or someone you know has a passion for kids and the programs that help them succeed, please consider submitting a nomination for the 2020-21 Lake Washington PTSA Council Board of Directors. The council serves as a resource to the local PTAs, families, and community members within the Lake Washington School District through training, support, and guidance, and advocates for the health, well-being, and education of every child. If you would like to be a part of this team or know of someone who might want to join us, please send an email to Nominating Committee (nominations@lwpstsa.net).
