BACK FOR 2020

Hope you all had a great break over Christmas and that you are enjoying a good start to 2020.

It's a time in GAA of getting ready for the busy periods ahead.

Most of our teams are back in training, though not yet on the grass and this first Cuala Weekly news of the New Year has some important messaging about the annual subs that are now due, about the importance of compliance with vetting and safeguarding if you involved in mentoring a team.

We also have some good news on the Cuala Awards Night coming up in two weeks time and we are asking for your thoughts on what a new website might best look like.

We were sorry over the past week to lose Tony Stanley, father of Brendan, Padraig and 18 grandchildren many of whom have been involved with the club; and Phyllis Murray, Mother of Mick and Granny of Ciara, Niamh and Roisín.

Ar dheis dé go raibh a anam dilis.

MEMBERSHIP DUES

We can only run the club for all by making sure that memberships are paid and unfortunately it is that time of year again.

We have had to raise the fee this year, the first increase in three years but we have extended the instalment option so that fees can be paid now over five months.

The reasons behind the increase and a breakdown on where the money goes has been prepared by the treasurer and give a real insight into what you get when you pay.

It is very important that you look at this and make arrangement to pay.  You must be registered to train or play, or to be involved as a coach or mentor.  We hope that what you get from your membership will make you feel that it is a worthwhile expense in your family life, in the present and the future of your and your children's wellbeing.

Our annual night of celebration is only two weeks away.

We will recognise the four Cuala teams who won Dublin Championships in 2019 and have a social night of chat, music, and craic.

Tickets are priced at €25 with €10 of each going straight to the Support4Drummo campaign.

You can book tickets online.  We look forward to seeing you at the Royal Marine on Friday 31st January.

CUALA WEBSITE SURVEY

We are starting to look at producing a new website for the club.  It would be a big help if you could share your thoughts by answering four simple questions about what you'd like to see.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE ON CURRENT CHILD SAFEGUARDING LEGISLATION

no-one is allowed by law to coach and/or work with underage young people in GAA clubs unless they have completed and received an email confirmation from the GAA stating that they are fully Garda Vetted through the GAA.

Also under current Child Safe Guarding legislation everyone coaching/working with underage young people in any GAA club MUST have completed a Child Safe Guarding course within the last 3 years.

Ken Fitzgerald (Cuala Youth & Coaching Development Officer) runs these courses on a regular basis in Cuala for Cuala members.  Please contact your section head for details and/or the Cuala website and social media sites for details of upcoming courses.

If you have not completed both of the above you MUST stand down immediately from any coaching/mentoring or any club activity with underage members in Cuala until you have completed both of the above.

Joanne Wylde, childrensofficer@cualagaa.ie

COACHING SESSION

Over 60 coaches attended a great session with coaching guru Dr Stephen Behan at St Joseph's School on Tuesday.  we are all now armed with lots more information to raise fitness in a fun way.

There is a coaching workshop at Bray next Saturday, 25th and plenty more to come.

Check out some upcoming dates here
DUBLIN CONVENTION

Our warmest congratulations to one of our own Ken O'Sullivan who was elected to become Deputy Chair of the Dublin County Board in December

Ken has been a stalwart of the club as Secretary to the Juvenile Boys and the Coiste, as well as through his occasional role as an unimpeachable umpire at matches.

He deserves the accolade at County level and we wish him all the best for his term of office.

Next week's Lotto jackpot is €1,700.  If you're not in you can't win.

The Lucky Dip winner who will have €100 posted to them was John Paul Woodfull

All our pitches are closed until Saturday, January 20th.  It is important to give them a break so please no early new year training out on the grass.

DEPAUL CHRISTMAS CHEER

Thanks to all who contributed to the Cuala DePaul Christmas Appeal.  A gang went in to distribute Santa's gifts to over 50 Women, children and homeless migrants in the days before Christmas,  What you did made more of a difference than you might imagine.

CUALA COMMUNITY RUN

Our January 5K will take place in Shanganagh Park on Sunday, January 26th.  It'll be a great way to shake off any residual Christmas cobwebs and raise money for a couple of good causes.

Find out more about the where when and how right here.

ONLINE RESOURCE FOR COACHES

If you want your sessions to fly in 2020 then you need to check out the wealth of resources that are available to registered coaches on the new Cuala coaching centre on the web.

The Player pathway tells you what level of development the players should be at while there are a host of videos and drills to make you as good a coach as you can be.
