Booster News

Our next Booster meeting is coming up on Weds., Feb. 12, at 7pm in the Choir room. We hope to see you there!

Boosters would like to congratulate Mrs. Ward and her Chamber Singers on their upcoming performance on Saturday at the Michigan Music Conference in Grand Rapids. This is a huge honor for the students and Mrs. Ward alike. They auditioned via blind audition and were 1 of 8 choirs selected from the entire state of Michigan. We are so proud of your hard work and resulting achievements! This is a very big deal, and we are so lucky to have Mrs. Ward and her amazing Chamber Singers at our school.

Boosters is looking for a non-Choir parent (can be Band or Orchestra!) who'd be willing to order, pick up, and distribute/pin on carnation corsages for Choir seniors on March 24. We do reimburse for the cost of the corsages. They would need to be ordered from Flowers of the Lakes (we can order or you can!), picked up sometime the afternoon of the 24th, and pinned on students sometime around 630 that evening. If you are willing to help with this relatively easy job, please, let Beth know: bstockdale812@comcast.net. On the same lines, later in the year, we'll be looking for parents to the same thing for Band & Orchestra seniors (in May).

If you're new to the program, welcome! Don't be afraid to jump in. There are many jobs that need to be done, both big and small. If you're a returning parent, please help our new families learn the ropes! Share your experiences, talk about the friends you've made and the laughs you've had.

Our meeting schedule for the rest of the year:
Feb. 12
Mar. 18*
Apr. 15
May 13
June 10
* - indicates the meeting at which elections of new officers needs to occur

Upcoming Fundraisers:

Discounted seats for shows at the Fisher have returned!
Jesus Christ, SuperStar and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Mandy Patinkin in Concert and the New Colossus
This is a recurring fundraiser to benefit the choir program. Lightly discounted tickets for you, some money returned to the program for our choir kids!

If you've got any ideas for fundraisers, please let us know! We do have a rule of  "If you bring it, you run it." so be prepared!

Musical Help Needed!

Many of our music program students are involved in our annual musical production, so we're coming to you, our Music Boosters, to ask for your help in feeding the musical crew! Ginny Eickholdt is running that endeavor and has asked us to share the SignUp Genius with you: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d4baba923a13-wlnmusical
If you have any questions about feeding the cast & crew, please don't hesitate to ask Ginny: gineick@yahoo.com

Scrip
Beginning in about April, we'll need someone to take over the Scrip Incentives Chair position. This person simply does some data entry, once per month, to enter incentive amounts into student Charms accounts. It's a relatively easy job, and Julie will train you! This is a low-hours, all year long position (even over the summer!) If you think you might be interested, please let Julie LaDouceur know: julietladouceur@yahoo.com.

Decided at the most recent Booster meeting: Alumni parents who purchase Scrip will have their incentive dollars deposited into an account for students who experience financial need, unless they specify otherwise. Any student who needs financial help with a music-program affiliated issue/event should speak to their director; our directors will have ultimate control over who will benefit from this.

Additionally, we'll soon be publishing a list of gift cards that we currently have in stock. Stay tuned for that!

What is Scrip?
FAQ!

Many Scrip cards can now be purchased easily via smart phones. You can utilize the Scrip website to make presto pay purchases and your e-cards will be available VERY quickly (usually only a couple of minutes between purchase & delivery!) in your Scrip Wallet.  No need to come in to pick up physical gift cards for many, many option. Check it out!

Our Scrip program is an ongoing fundraiser. It runs all year, with order pickups on Thursday evenings in the Commons at WLN, 5:30p-6:30  (Please confirm with Missy that she'll be at the school on pickup day! Her schedule has gotten crazy because of work.) Scrip is the ONLY way to accumulate fundraising funds specifically for your student! It's a great way to pay for camp, trips, lessons, or instrument repairs. Start accumulating your Scrip dollars now for those future big purchases!
Please check out the
Scrip page on our website for important enrollment information! We also have a new email address for Scrip questions/comments: wlnmusicboostersscrip@gmail.com  Note: we can only accept cash or checks at the Scrip table.
Scrip orders placed online by Sunday nights will be available for pick up on Thursday evenings. If orders are placed and you want to arrange for pickup, please email wlnmusicboostersscrip@gmail.com to make arrangements for pick up with Missy Kirshner.

Scrip has made it possible to pay for your online Scrip orders using a credit card! There is an additional 2.46% fee, so it may not be worth it on some purchases, but it may be great for others. Your mileage may vary!

Disney Trip

The Disney trip meeting has been rescheduled to Feb. 4, at 7pm, due to a conflict with a middle school concert.

Mrs. Hulliberger would like you all to know that as soon as she has a finalized itinerary, she will send it out. Each time she's gotten ready to send it, something has changed. So please, continued patience. It will come.

If you still haven't made your final trip payment, it is imperative that you do so as soon as possible! If you have an outstanding balance, you should have received an email from Mrs. Fowler. If you have a question about your balance, please look in Charms. If you need to use Scrip incentives for a trip payment, you need to print off the Incentives disbursement form, which can be found in Charms as well as on the wlnmb.org website. That must be submitted to the Band box (attn: Wendy Fowler) to receive Incentives credit.

Marching Band

Help Needed: Our phenomenal Band Reps will be on their last year next year. They are looking for someone(s) who are interested in taking on this big job now, so that the right people can job shadow over the next year, and learn the ropes to take them on in '21. Please reach out to Mo Seifert (mokickituproms@yahoo.com) or Toni Dechert-Kuehnel (tldechert@yahoo.com) if you're interested. Our uniform chair, Jessica Mukavetz, does such a great job fitting our Marching Knights. The job she does is a BIG one. Jessica could likely use some help in the form of a co-chair. If you'd like to learn the ropes, let her know by sending an email to jmukavetz@yahoo.com

We are also looking for someone to take over an important band camp related role for next summer. We need someone to coordinate the post-camp sub lunches (collect money, order & distribute subs). Please let Mo Seifert know if you're interested in this role. Mo can be reached at mokickituproms@yahoo.com.

Charms News

Another note from Charms:

Hello— We’re writing today to inform you about a new step for your students to log into Charms. This new step is part of our effort to create the most secure authentication process for Charms users.

Please make sure all students using Charms have an email address associated with their accounts by February 1.

This notification is to let you know that some of your students do not have email addresses associated with their Charms accounts. Beginning in February, all students must have an email address that they or a parent can access. In order to log into Charms, students will need to click a link sent in an email to their email address.

Please have email accounts in place for students by February 1.

Charms Password Resets:

Students and adults can reset, or change their password themselves on the public portal.

Reset a password from the public portal

If the student or adult does not remember their password, they can follow these instructions to reset their password.

Additionally, we would love it if ALL students in the music programs (band, choir AND orchestra!) had Charms accounts.
