New Year, New Friends!
CACV welcomed five new Board members from October - January, bringing fresh energy, needed skills, and varied backgrounds to our community!
We'd like to officially introduce them here:
Kirsten Larsen is a creative consultant and artist who is deeply committed to supporting collaborations that advance the arts and culture sector. She is the founder of the Vancouver Biennale's Young Ambassadors.
Jason Chan is a communications and marketing executive who has worked with Vancouver Symphony and Rick Hansen Foundation.
Matthew Ramsey is the Director of Strategic Communications/University Affairs at UBC and has a background in journalism.
Andrew Dawoud works in business development and marketing and learned the value of volunteering from his dad.
Laura Zeman is a documentary filmmaker and producer with a focus on positive social change who has served on several local Boards.
We would also like to recognize long-time members Denise Cooper and Jessica Numminen who have both transitioned off the Board in the last year. We are so grateful for the many years you volunteered during a time of renewal and growth!
From Valerie, James, Shelley, PIerre, Brittanny, Stephen, Sylvia, Johnny, Patrycja, and myself...
Thank You!

January Blog Post

Vancouver is experiencing heavy snowfall, busses are stalled, sky trains are delayed- but that has not slowed down the Artist In Residence Program at the John Howard Society Lower Mainland.
Our first session was held on January 7, 2020. It was a cold afternoon, with a relatively small turn out. Due to office closures, holidays, the residency program was on hiatus. Amid all the social media posts, satire, and new reports about how the onslaught of snow has shut down Metro Vancouver, it has a proportionally huge impact on the service users of the John Howard. For many folks, when the weather is dangerously cold, the priority is staying warm.
