Happy New Year and Blessed 2020!
Since 2006! It is exciting to have completed our 14th year of service in Guatemala! Praises to God, our pastors, and supporters for being a huge part of our success. The number one question we had over the holidays was "How long do you think you will be there (in Guatemala)?" It's actually been an ongoing question. Our best answer is "As long as God wants us to be in Guatemala." It is our purpose to be where He wants us, in His Will. There is peace in being in the Right Place and that's His Place. Sure there are challenges, but it still yields Peace and Joy in knowing we're doing the right thing. Amen!
So with that, we clearly are confirmed over and over that we are in His Will and serving where we're to serve.
We thank you for your prayers and support for the work God has us doing here. We can see God moving in the ministry here and in the lives of the people of Guatemala. But God can do even bigger things, and we are eager to see what he has in store for us!
January was a very busy month for us. After Christmas break, the kids got back to school. Jackie resumed her service at the school and helped to raise support needs for a local Guatemalan family who has been very special to us for quite some time. Levi has been hard at work with Sharing His Plan Ministries installing water well at the mission center.
The children are doing great in school, Christian Academy of Guatemala or C.A.G. Lydia is fulfilling her role as the teenager of the house and helping to take her soccer team to the playoffs while taking her driver's-ed class online with FLVS. Levi is doing very well in school and is very excited to get into the school’s robotics class while only a few weeks away from becoming a teenager. Lily continues to impress her teachers, reading, making crafts, and being sweet. Liora is turning 9 years old this week complete with an audition on her birthday for the school's talent show. We are so very proud of what God is doing in their lives!
Heidy and her family have been special to us. We met her after Lily was born, so that's 10 years ago. She was single. Now she is married to a harder worker and they have three children. Over the years, our faith and trust in God have been a constant witness to her. Just before Christmas her husband was let go from his 5+ year job. This has hurt them financially and jobs are hard to find. So she told us her financial need for her kids' schooling (the school year os Jan - Oct). A donor came forward to help with the registration fee. Two donors came forward and helped with the book packet fee. She now needs the balance paid for their uniforms. The school is letting them borrow the uniforms expecting payment. They said she can pay half by Feb 7 and the other half by Feb 14. It is our prayer for 2 donors to gift $75 each. This will pay for the school clothes needed for the whole school year. Showing her family how good God is to His children. Heidy and her husband are working odd jobs here and there. They are connected with a church. We hope to help them with full-time service work when the Mission Center is built. We trust this family very much and it's been a joy to see them grown in their walk and faith.
This month has been a particularly busy month for Levi. He has been coordinating and installing a water well at the Sharing His Plan mission center (see photos below). The center is located in the mountains and does not have access to municipality water. The well was drilled to a depth of 185 meters or about 606 feet. The well will provide water for all the ministry’s needs. It is truly a great blessing!
Thank you again for your prayers and support. Every time we share God’s message of hope through Jesus Christ, we do that with you. We could not do this without you, not that God isn’t big enough, but because God wants us to work together to send His message. We love our team and we love you!
Peace and Blessing,
The Davis Family
