Welcome to the New Year. Looking back at the last 12 months UYAHF registered a lot of success at both the national and regional level. All this was made possible because of you, thank you!  As Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams"
  
As 2020 begins, we have the dream to see adolescents being at the center of policy formulation and decision making, living better lives, having access to information so that they make well informed decisions about their reproductive health.
We have a lot to look out for this year as we strive to tackle critical issues ranging from adolescent health services, early marriages, safe sex practices, reaching across many youth as we possibly can to engaging them in decisions that concern their well being.
2020 Starts With a Renewed Energy To  End Rape Culture
Uganda has laws and policies in place but violence against women and girls continues to prevail and these rob them of their emotional stability. Over the years many stories, documentaries and reports have been written and shared with the masses about rape.  Ending Rape In Our Universities Is a Priority
2020 kicked off on a high note as it marked the start of the new decade, with so much happening within the first few days. But perhaps the most trending and most talked about topic was the series of rape cases and accusations that were happening on Ugandan social media. It all begun with one brave girl taking to social media to tell the world about her ordeal at the hands of her assailant.  PREPARATIONS FOR THE SHE DECIDES FESTIVAL UNDERWAY 
Preparations for the annual SheDecides festival are already underway as the team held the first planning meeting  in Mbale District. The SheDecides movement aims to promote the rights of women and girls to freely decide and make decisions about their bodies and futures with out question. This year,the star-studed annual festival is going to be held in Mbale district and will be attracting people from all over the country, region and the world. the event will be happening on 1st March and is the one stop place to get SRH information and services.
 
 
 MEET OUR NEW ADVOCACY OFFICER
Nakyegera Norah Ruth has a back ground in economics and has spent 4 years working in civil society mainly focusing on community awareness, youth work and poverty eradication. 
Norah is currently working as an Advocacy and Communication Officer at the Uganda Youth and Adolescent Health Forum, a youth led organization working on health and human rights, particularly of young people. Norah works closely with people living in hard to reach areas, living in extreme poverty and minority groups. Her ultimate goal is to create a grassroots movement that values human rights and takes responsibility for respecting, defending and promoting them.
She sits on the board of Youthlead Action Network whose aim is to involve young people in the implementation and tracking of the East Africa’s Sustainable Development Goals. She is also a member of the Global Shapers Community, an initiative of the World Economic Forum that molds young people to position them to build solutions, participate in policy making and create lasting change.
 YOUTH HUB CALL FOR MEMBERS 

The Youth Hub project provides a free, innovate and safe space for young people to interact and learn about Sexual Reproductive Health Rights issues that affect their lives and well beings. At the Youth Hub young people engage in fun activities like educational movie nights, indoor and outdoor games, bonfires, open mic sessions, music and dance for health and so much more.  WHAT YOU SHOULD EXPECT IN FEBRUARY
 CONDOM PARTY
 SHEDECIDES FESTIVAL
As a way of promoting sex safe awareness in a fun and creative way, a condom party has been scheduled on 14th February. International condom day is an informal holiday usually observed on February 13th in conjunction with Valentine’s Day. If you care about your health and that of your partner, prioritise using condoms and restock. 
 
As we join the rest of the world to commemorate the global She Decides Day, the 3rd Edition of She Decides Festival will be on 29th of   March 2020. This year we shall partner with Mbale District Local Government who will graciously host the festival at Mbale Senior Secondary School Grounds. The 2020 She Decides festival will attract about 3000  participants and will be under the theme "Voice, Choice and Control for Girls"
