What is it like to be an orphan?

For whatever reason, whether you were dropped at an orphanage by a mom or dad or have lost your parents to death, there is a sense of abandonment. You feel all alone and that you have to fight the world that seems to come against you. Psalm 68:5-6 says that God is the “Father to the fatherless, defender of widows—this is God, whose dwelling is holy. 6 God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.”

For 28 years now, Hope for the world Albania has been caring for orphans and widows. We have restored orphanages, built buildings and provided food and clothing for over 10,000 orphans. We have planted churches, and reached out to the hurting in the communities, and yet there is still so much to do. Even though on the map Albania looks like a tiny country, it has a population of nearly three million people with whom we have the wide-open opportunity to share the gospel. It is because of you and with your help that we can continue to care for orphans, widows, and many more that are hungry and in need of a Savior. Thank you for giving!

A Christmas Miracle: Recently at the Hope Center in Marikaj, we had a special Christmas miracle. One of the boys at the center had shared with us how that no one in his biological family has ever cared for him. He has been a very lonely boy. His family disowned him as a young boy when his parents separated, and though there were 8 siblings, he has had no contact with any of them. It is as if he was a ‘true orphan’ and outcast. During Christmas he was watching TV and saw where a serious car accident had taken place in the capital city. He heard the names of the people involved and one of them was his older brother. With the help of our wonderful staff, he was able to find where he was and arrange a visit. Right before Christmas, our HFTW Driver, Sokrat, and staff member, Teo, left very early one morning taking Xhulio for a two-hour trip to see his brother and family. It was very touching. When they saw each other they embraced in a big hug and wept. They really made a great connection that day and have made plans to get together in the future. So thankful that “God places the lonely in families”(Psalm 68:6 NLT) and although his brother invited him to stay a few days, Xhulio said he had to get back to the Hope Center for a very special Christmas lunch and gift exchange with his Hope Center brothers and sisters.

With God, there are no orphans!

Progress Report
Hope for the World Foundation // 2019

Honduras: We were able to send some videographers to Honduras to capture the ministry that Larry and Marsha Bannister are doing with feeding centers and a high school there in Tatumbla.

Romania: We took a mission trip and were able to help with VBS, a women’s meeting, and feeding ministry to the gypsies in Romania with Kelly Collicco and their national missionaries. Bogdan and Marius!

Hurricane Dorian: We were able to raise and give over $36,000 for relief efforts. Roofs have been covered and houses that were totally ruined have been torn down, the money has gone to rebuild the widows homes first. There is still so much to do, if you would like to go and help rebuild or give to relief efforts designate to MOW or please contact us.

Philippines: Pastors in Philippines saw over 800 saved and built two new churches this year.

Albania: We took a team of 12 to Albania to see the progress this year and to take long time donors over to see the work for the first time.

Travels in the States: Fall is our busiest time of year and we were able to raise over $20,000 for Albania. We also took Roger and Cherie on the #thankyoutour to a couple of long time supporting churches. Contact us if you are interested in this.

Reports from Shkoder
Fredi, Prenda, and Mirela

MORE KIDS - We are grateful to have the opportunity to share Christ with our orphans letting them know their lives are not a mistake. God has a plan for them.

BIBLE CLASSES - Bible classes for the kids are growing in number and their desire to grow in faith.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOLS – 2 VBS’s this year and the kids loved it.

CENTER OF DEVELOPMENT: We have bought presents for almost 90 people at the center of development. Taking them on field trips, something they seldom get to do, so they can experience God’s wonder and beauty.

CHURCH - More of our kids are attending church regularly

ORPHANAGE STAFF: Sometimes the staff attend our church events. Pray as we continue to reach out to them with Gods love.

BIRTHDAYS - We celebrate the birthdays of the kids and it is such a big blessing for them to each get a present from Hope for the World.

PROJECTS for the Orphanages: we have painted, solved electrical problems, and bought equipment/chairs for the orphanages.

HANDBALL TEAM – The handball team took second place at the championship games this year playing teams from other countries as well. Just another door open to share God’s love with so many.

GOVERNMENT RELATIONS – The relationship with our government here in Shkodra has been great this year. Even the director for our city has promoted HFTW publicly and through social media and our kids even performed for a couple of their meetings.

SUMMER CAMP: We helped with a 2 week summer camp organized by the municipality for 150 kids.

FOOD BANK: We continued to partner with our local food bank to help so many families in the community, also collaborating with our regional social services director in giving food to so many families affected by the earthquakes.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS BOXES: Partnered with Samaritans Purse on Operation Christmas Boxes sharing the gospel in 2 kindergartens, multi-functional center, kids of para-tetraplegic association, the gypsy communities as well as others.

GYPSY COMMUNITY: Ministered to our gypsy community through the feeding center. We’re able to have a meeting with parents and kids once a month to share Christ. We would love to replicate this in the surrounding gypsy communities.
