Africa 2020

January 19, 2020

Dear Praying Friends,

From the beginning we believed that the move to France might open the door to ministering in Africa.  The time has finally come, for Mike, at least.  We thought it wise in view of Mélanie's health that Mike travel alone for a first trip.  Do pray for Melanie during Mike's three-week absence.  The folks at church plan to keep a close watch on her.

And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” (2 Tim 2.2)

Clancy FamilyMissionaries Sparky and Mindy Clancy spent a year with us in Québec nearly ten years ago to learn French for service in Congo.  Mike will accompany them from Paris to Kinshasa on February 4th.  After a few days in Kinshasa, they will travel to Dibaya-Lubwe where Mike and Sparky will team-teach an 8-hour-a-day weeklong “Church Administration” Class to pastors. They will head back to Kinshasa around the 20th to do some seminars and preach in local churches.

1974. That's when Mike was last vaccinated for Yellow Fever! Theoretically one vaccination is good for life, but we take no chances, especially since Congolese officials are known to be tough for this.  We ask prayer for all the preparations necessary for a first-time trip to the African interior.  Pray for safety, health, financial provision, but most of all for preparation and delivery of messages and lessons.  The desire of Mike’s heart is that he might adequately teach and preach God's precious word in the French language in this new context!

Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, …That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.” (Col 4.3–4)

Ever Thankful for Your Prayerful Support,

Mike and Melanie Webster
