"In the bleak mid-winter
Frosty wind made moan;
Earth stood hard as iron,
Water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow,
Snow on snow,
In the bleak mid-winter
Long ago.

-Christina Rossetti
No snow has fallen here, but we are settling into that "bleak midwinter" feeling. The ground is like a stone in the morning; hard with prickly frost and icy patches in our numerous puddles. It's my least favorite season and a time I usually struggle to enjoy and stay positive through, but this year I have a giant dog dragging me outside on the regular and half a dozen new projects keeping me too busy to wallow! Have you ever noticed that positive part of busy-ness? Being too busy can be exhausting and stressful, but the right amount of busy keeps your hands and mind occupied and feeling productive. Even Martha Washington is quoted as saying, "steady as a clock, busy as a bee, cheerful as a cricket."

#thatvelvetfeeling is a lovely, rich hashtag filled with inspiring photographs that have a touch of something extra. maybe it's that softness of velvet, or the rich hues, but somehow so many contributions to #thatvelvetfeeling really do capture rich, darkly toned moments.
I recently set up a Patreon account and it would mean the world to be if you would become a patron. I'm sharing exclusive posts there (which also tend to be more personal and reflective). My last post was about a previous job I held as the Creative Director of a fashion brand. You can also get access to monthly wallpapers, archives of high-res photographs, and top tier patrons will also receive a thank you postcard of one of my photographs in the mail. Movie recommendation: Little Women
I loved this film; it's fairly loyal to the book but also a deeply felt and inspiring film on many levels. The style is also everything I want right now and will be a big trend for spring and summer--prairie chic, romantic, hyper feminine style is here to stay.
