It has been an extremely challenging start to the year for many regions who have been directly and indirectly impacted by the devastating fires in East Gippsland and High Country regions. Our thoughts are with the emergency services who are protecting lives and property and with everyone affected in these regions.
We understand that the entire Victorian tourism industry is feeling the impact of the bushfires, particularly small business in regional Victoria that rely on summer trade.
Right now, we are working closely with Visit Victoria on some short-term marketing initiatives and educating our industry partners and consumers there are many safe places to visit, including the Grampians, who are welcoming visitors.

January is one of the busiest times of visitation to the Grampians and our region turns it on in Summer with plenty of opportunities to relax, explore and enjoy all that's on offer. From lakes and waterfalls to wineries and everything in between, make it your "go to" place to wine, dine and get amongst nature this summer.
The best way to support our tourism industry is to visit areas not impacted by the fires – and that includes the Grampians.

EVERI PILOT PROJECT

In 2019 Victorian Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) received funding via the Regional Events and Innovation Fund, to fund the setup and introduction of the Everi events technology for three Regional Tourism Boards. Grampians Tourism was fortunate to be nominated as one of the three recipients.
Everi is an online event solution that aggregates over 200,000+ national events from sources including Ticketmaster, Eventbrite, Facebook, ATDW and more. Those events can be delivered onto a dedicated website called an Event Hub, which is localised and customised to suit a specific geography, market, demographic, etc, or they can be used to populate existing digital platforms such as a council, tourism, hotel or community website.
As of December 2019 the Everi platform has been 'scanning' 100 nominated sites and pages for events to pull relevant content through to the Visit Grampians website giving consumers an even better range of activity from across the region.

THE GRAMPIANS ARE OPEN FOR BUSINESS

Our hearts are with the communities in Victoria, NSW and SA that are currently battling unprecedented bushfires impacting livelihood, wildlife and tourism.
We’re hearing from hard working tourism operators in the Grampians region that they are experiencing cancellations from both Australian and International guests out of concern for the current situation and, the reality is, that we are hours away from the areas currently most affected.
So, we urge you - donate what you can, support impacted regions when they re-open, but don’t forget – there are plenty of places, including The Grampians, that are currently waiting to welcome you with open arms.
