Maleny Commerce

Representing the local business community since 1986.

Hello & Welcome to 2020!
We have a big year planned and already our subcommittee meetings have started!

You will have received by now your membership invoice and a link to our 2020 survey. We would really appreciate you taking the time to complete the survey. At most, it will take you a minute or two but it will help us enormously.

Our first meeting of the year is our AGM followed by a meet and greet the Candidates for Division 5 – all 9 of them that have registered so far being:
  • Winston Johnson
  • Greg Williams
  • Clive Waring
  • Tracie Sanim
  • Greg Cutlack
  • James Grimard
  • Tracy Burton
  • Kiti Bruinsma
  • Ben Child
We anticipate our AGM will take about 15 minutes or so while enjoying a buffet breakfast and then we will move into the meet and greet.

We have asked the candidates what they think they can achieve for businesses on the hinterland, so we are keen to see their responses.

This year we are losing 3 key volunteers from our committee, Spencer Shaw, Karen Shaw, and Lea Parkes. What these 3 have achieved in their time on the executive has been amazing. We have another 2 people that have nominated being Anne Brown and Paulette Steele.

We are following on with our Live, Love, Shop Maleny campaign with the first of this year starting on Valentine Days February 14th.  We thought it fitting we start our #lovemaleny campaign on the Valentines day.

We will be launching our new #lovemaleny website because we have some exciting things happening this year and we need a new and improved website to support our ideas.

Short and sweet! I’ll leave you here and hope that the beginning of 2020 is prosperous for you and we hope to see you at our February 11th breakfast.

Hi, all you fabulous Artists, Shop Proprieties, Accommodation, Spa’s, Coffee Shops & any Business that runs out of this wonderful part of Mother Earth called the Sunshine Coast.
I know you all would have been extremely affected by the bush fires that have devastated our land, destroyed lives & property.
The massive loss of our wildlife and livestock has pushed us all to jump into action to HELP!
So many displaced people & animals it is totally a massive job to sort this all out as there are so many levels of work and healing to bring so sort of normality back.
So a small group has jumped into action myself, Heather Mollins is a marketing guru & her husband Ben Child who has a background in Fundraising.
We have with great gratitude have a fundraiser that will donate 100% of the takings that will be to three charities –BLAZE AID, WIRES and WILDLIFE VICTORIA.

Farewell to Spencer, Karen and Lea
How on earth do we thank these people! I cannot begin to tell you how many volunteer hours they have given to the Chamber, especially Karen who has run the Christmas Festival for the past 6 years!  They have all had such a positive impact on local businesses, community and the rest of our executive. We will miss their input every month but we have formed great friendships so we will continue to see and talk to them.  Karen and Lea will both be working on our Heritage subcommittee so we haven't quiet cut the strings yet! Spencer led us for 4 years and what a job he did! All three are very passionate people with drive so we will miss them. Please if you see them in the streets thank them for service to the Chamber.
We wish them all the very best.
Our organisation’s operations are supported by council through a Community Partnership
