Living Room Live Open Mic Night

We invite all singer/songwriters to join us for this Thursday's open mic night, a.k.a. Living Room Live. Named Creative Loafing's Best of the Bay 2014 and 2017 for "Best Open Mic Night", the Hideaway Cafe has opened up its doors and its stage for the past 10 years to countless rising talents as well as seasoned veterans who have made a career of music.
Consumate host John Kelly, a singer/songwriter himself, started this weekly tradition 10 years ago after building a stage as an extension of the recording studio. And the rest is history. The talent has been immense, the highlight reel endless... and the memories priceless. You won't find a more appreciative audience than you will here at St Petersburg's Original Listening Room!
Come down and check in with Rebekah and get on the list. The list is now built using a lottery system in an effort to keep the night open to newcomers and to keep every Thursday new and exciting. This also encourages artists to support and get to know one another. Countless collaborations and musical relationships have been built on chance encounters here at "Living Room Live". For signup - you have an option to choose one of two time frames. Basically EARLY (7pm-9pm) and LATE (9:15 - close). Your name is pulled out of a hat and you have 15 minutes to do your thing. You can drop your name in starting at 6pm. Then singer/songwriters take the stage to share 2-3 original songs and then "pass the mic" so to speak. The signup pool fills up fast so be sure to get here early and be sure you are here for your chosen time frame. Artists - if you'd like to get the recording studio "in the red" for your set, be sure to indicate that when you sign up (solos only). For as low as $35, you can have files of your performance dropbox'd to you or handed over on a special keepsake "hideaway" flash drive. Be sure to leave your email and phone number if you choose to record.
Invite your favorite music loving friends out for some incredible original music from some of St Pete's finest! As always Thursdays are free so come on out and get a taste of what St Pete's Original Listening Room is all about.

Doyle Grisham with John Frinzi

Doyle Grisham has played on Jimmy Buffett albums for over 30 years and toured with him since 1999 and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Not only has his steel guitar been heard on numerous Buffett tunes, but over the years you have heard his talent shine through on recordings by Randy Travis, Reba McIntire, Tompall & The Glaser Brothers, Kenny Rogers, Mel Tillis, George Jones, and Dr. Hook, just to name a few. Although noted for his mastery of the steel guitar, Doyle is equally at home with an electric guitar, dobro or bass guitar in his hands, having influenced many up and coming musicians along the way!
A gifted singer and songwriter, John Frinzi has built an audience through craft and originality.
Most recently, John teamed up with multi-platinum Songwriter and Producer Aaron Scherz on their singles "Summer Sun" and “Lyin’ or Lucky” which, in addition to being fan favorites on Sirius/XM, are included on their new album “Blue Sky View”.
A seasoned live performer, Frinzi has toured nationally playing over 250 dates a year and has been featured at major festivals including the Keith Sykes Songwriters Celebration, Key West Songwriters Festival, Pensacola Beach Songwriters Festival and has shared the stage with acclaimed artists including Jesse Winchester, Mac McAnally, The Coral Reefer Band, Todd Snider and Maria Muldaur.

Aubrey Eisenman & The Cydes as a duo is Aubrey and her husband Justin.
Justin Eisenman is a luthier and North Carolina guitar picker extraordinaire and Aubrey Eisenman is an upright bassist whose songwriting has placed in national songwriting competitions to include a second at The John Hartford Memorial Festival National Songwriting Competition and Merle Fest. They were recently signed to Mountain Fever/Travianna Records and have since had a charting album "Bowerbird" which was also on The Roots Music Top 50 albums of 2019. Their songs are tales of the past and present and their full sound has been heard in over 40 states and five countries. While they aren't awake through the wee hours with their two children they are busy touring their music and building new instruments.

Singer-songwriter Gale Trippsmith came over to North America from her native Scotland when she was nine years old. Her parents brought home a guitar for her one day and after finishing University she made music into a marvelous career, sharing her songs from Switzerland to San Francisco and from her homeland of Scotland to her new home in St. Petersburg. Ms. Trippsmith has been honored with the opportunity to open for many musical legends including, Martina McBride, Pat Benetar, Al Stewart, Leon Russell and more! An avid songwriter Gale was delighted to find her song "Money Changes Everything" was selected by Grammy-winner Nanci Griffith to be recorded on Nanci's album "The Loving Kind". Gale's third CD, "Sideways" is available online and at her shows.
