CRI Extends Symposium Discount to CyberSC Members

WSJ Pro Cybersecurity Symposium in Charlotte Mar 9-10

The Cyber Resilience Institute announced they would extend the CRI discount to the WSJ Pro Cybersecurity Symposiuim to CyberSC members.  CyberSC members will only pay $595 to attend.  The WSJ Cybersecurity Symposium is designed to make cybersecurity education and networking available to small and medium-sized enterprises. Presented in four locations across the U.S. in 2020, each symposium is an immersive two-day event for professionals responsible for navigating cybersecurity threats and risks. Governor supports funding to build DreamPort cyber facility at USC Aiken

S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster's recently released executive budget includes $15 million for the South Carolina National Guard to begin construction of the innovative DreamPort Cybersecurity Collaborative facility at USC Aiken, according to a news release from the university.

The purpose of the DreamPort facility will be to increase the state's cyber response capabilities through partnerships to keep pace with increasing cyber threats and technology initiatives.

Cybersecurity jobs are in demand. How Beaufort plans to fill the gap 2020

An effort in northern Beaufort aims to churn out professionals to fill jobs in the growing cybersecurity field.

The initiative would include a new four-year cybersecurity degree at University of South Carolina Beaufort and associate’s degree at Technical College of the Lowcountry to accompany the school’s certificate program.

Cyber Education Pact Signed

All South Carolina institutions will soon have new resources to provide cyber education through the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence. Maj. Gen. Neil Hersey, commander of the Cyber Center of Excellence and Fort Gordon, will sign an agreement in January 2020 with the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education to allow qualified South Carolina institutions to offer service members coursework and field experiences in cybersecurity through the center.
