A new year, brings a new

way to receive camp news!

--Crooked Creek is getting a brand new pool for summer 2020! Thanks to an anonymous donor, camp will have a zero-entry cement pool for campers and guests to splash and enjoy!

--The 2019 season brought about plenty of staff changes. We were sad to say farewell to Brenda Jenkins after her 4+ years as Food Service Manager.  Brenda and her husband are excited for their new adventures of visiting family and loved ones across the U.S. in their RV.

--We welcomed Adam Voth Unruh as our new Food Service Manager.  Adam was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas and lives in Wayland, Iowa with his wife Carly and two cats. He graduated from Bethel College with a degree in elementary education.
Adam is no stranger to the camp world as he has been a camper, a counselor and on summer staff at Camp Mennoscah in Murdock, KS. He has also served as camp pastor for a week at Crooked Creek

--We said goodbye to Mel Erbacher as Head of Housekeeping and welcomed back a very familiar face to help keep our facilities looking tip top: Gloria Widmer.

--Pastors Kim and Chris Becker from Emmanuel Mennonite Church in St. Paul, MN were our Winterfest speakers.  Their theme was (En)Counter Culture: Living as Anabaptists and used the theme verse Romans 12:2 Don’t be conformed to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you can figure out what God’s will is—what is good and pleasing and mature.

Program Updates:
Sing and S'mores was hosted August 25, 2019 and led by Shawn Graber of Kalona, Iowa.  Participants enjoyed singing along and finishing the night with a delicious cookie s'more, the s'mookie!

Senior Day was held October 17, 2019 as we welcomed Author and speaker S. Roy Kaufman of Freeman, South Dakota. The day included learning about Kaufman's book, Healing God's Earth: Rural Community in the Context of Urban
Civilization, soup lunch and plenty of discussion.
Winterfest was held January 3-5, 2020 as we welcomed Chris and Kim Becker from St. Paul, MN to give our spiritual input with the theme (En)Counter Culture: Living as Anabaptists.

Though there was not any snow, we had plenty of fun playing large-group clue, building forts, eating delicious food, decorating cookies, staying up late and playing in the activity center for hours!

Needs List

Is your Sunday School class, youth group, or family looking for ways to give back or volunteer this winter? Consider being a Crooked Creek Sponsor or donating the items below!

Holy Cow Sponsor. Every camp season it takes almost 300 pounds of beef to help feed the campers and staff healthy and delicious meals.
Just Juice Sponsor. We love being able to offer our campers something sweet in the mornings to accompany their breakfast that is NOT loaded with added sugar, consider being the juice sponsor and donating 100&% juice of any variety to camp!
Veggie Stick Sponsor. Offering campers a healthy and easy to-go snack like carrot or celery sticks takes time and effort but we're committed to serving nutritious options for the youth attending camp!
That's a Wrap Sponsor. From tacos, to cook-outs and other fun foods, we use a lot of burrito sized tortillas throughout the summer. Though it's a simple item, we'd love for you to help sponsor this item!
Bagged Sponsor.  Serving as many meals as we do in the summer, we use a lot of plastic bags: mostly gallon and quart but plenty of in-between as well.  It's a helpful item to always have on hand.
