What's happening with MTS - North Carolina?

The last month has been our best yet and I have some wonderful news to share!

- We reached our goal: My prayer was God would raise $10,000 in new, first-time support in December. By His grace, the Lord provided $13,491.72! That brings us up to 73 percent of our total annual need of $90,000.

Thank you to all who have given from the beginning or have just recently begun to invest in Ministry to State - North Carolina. I couldn't be more grateful!

- Ministry at the capitol begins this month: Ministry to State wisely requires its ministers to have 70 percent of their financial support raised before beginning active ministry at the capitol. Since that goal has been reached, I will begin transitioning between Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the ministry (see below) by visiting the capitol twice a week until the MTS - North Carolina is completely financially resourced.

My focus initially will be on building relationships with legislative staff and others in government with whom I have connected over the past several months. The North Carolina General Assembly returns for its short session on April 28 so without the elected officials at the capitol, the opportunity to connect with staff will be especially apparent. My prayer is that my work with MTS - North Carolina will be fully funded by April 28 so that I can turn my attention from part-time ministry and part-time support raising, to full-time ministry at the capitol.

- I still need your help: Prayer, networking, and financial support are my three greatest needs.

I have included a list of prayer requests below. It would be a great encouragement if you would join me in praying for these needs.

Also, if you have connections to people who work in state government in Raleigh – be they elected officials, staffers, journalists, lobbyists, or interns – it would be a great help if you could make a connection between that person and myself.

Finally, if you are not already supporting my work with MTS – North Carolina, would you consider doing so? Through your support, you can take an active role in bringing gospel renewal to those entrusted with great public responsibility in our state. The MTS - North Carolina Ministry Plan

Where am I going? What am I doing?

I've been making my way to see individuals, churches, and presbyteries who are interested in supporting the work of MTS - North Carolina. Here is a look at my upcoming schedule:

January 26 – Piedmont Triad Presbytery at Hope Presbyterian Church, Winston-Salem

February 16  Preaching at Grace Presbyterian Church, Kernersville

February 22  Presenting MTS at Central Carolina Presbytery (PCA) in Charlotte

Some new prayer requests

  • Pray for our family's health. All five of us have been hit with some significant illness over the past couple of months, especially our daughter, Sarah, who has just recently recovered from pneumonia.
  • Pray for Melanie's health as she enters the third trimester of pregnancy. Melanie has been feeling quite sick and fatigued this pregnancy, but our baby is doing great. We're expecting a beautiful baby girl by April 29!
  • Pray that as I begin ministry at the capitol, God would open opportunities to minister to those serving in state government; particularly that God would give me wisdom as to how to best begin investing in the lives of our public servants.
  • Pray that God will provide all of our financial support by the spring!
  • Pray that God would continue to keep our family's heart faithful to Christ, passionate about his mission, and eager to serve him at home, at work, at school, and in all of life. We want to enjoy Him above all things, but we are constantly battling the desires of the flesh, temptations from the world, and spiritual attack. Pray that we will rest in Jesus' work for us in the gospel and seek to know to know Him more deeply as we long to make Him known!
