Happy New Year!
We have lots to share... so we are colour coding, just in case you've not got time to read it all...

News for our:
SCHOOLS (green and yellow)
PARTNERS (green and blue)
FUNDERS and FRIENDS (all!)
1. Youth Voice commission
We are delighted to announce that we've just appointed Sheffield-based youth empowerment agency, Chilypep, to lead on the first stage of our Youth Voice work.  This commission will involve some research into existing youth voice groups in the city (which we look forward to sharing with our Partners) - let us know if your organisation has a youth voice group and would like to be part of the research.

By June, the plan is that Chilypep's work will have formed a group of engaged young people who can help us make decisions, and together we will have written our strategy for youth voice work as we move into the next 2 years.  We're also considering offering training for organisations in youth voice work, and how to get young people on Boards - let us know if either is of interest.
2. Website progress
The Create Sheffield website is progressing.... our wonderful Partners have provided information about themselves so that they each have a page on the site, and that is being uploaded this week.  We hope the website will be live in February.

The first 30 Sheffield Adventures have been dreamt up - 15 focused on our Outdoor City and 15 on our Creative City.  We have a group of students from Sheffield Hallam who are doing some trialling of the Adventures, but there is plenty of scope for more trials.

Calling all lecturers, teachers, parents, youth workers, and facilitators!  If you have access to young people and fancy testing some fun adventures for us, please let us know.
Our signed-up arts & cultural Partners who have provided info for the website are, currently:
Bright Box Makerspace, Chol, Forced Entertainment, Greentop Community Circus, Growtheatre, Ignite imaginations, Kurious Art, Museums Sheffield, Music in the Round, Sheffield Creative Guild, Sheffield Doc Fest, Sheffield Music Academy, Sheffield Music Hub, Sheffield Music School, Sheffield Theatres, Showroom Cinema, Site Gallery, Tales from the Playground, Tell Tale Hearts Children's Theatre Company, Theatre Deli, Third Angel, Whitworks Adventures in Theatre, Yorkshire Artspace.
3. Schools Artsmark update

As you may recall, our Champion Schools told us that a good way to help and support the boosting of arts and culture in the curriculum is to offer a supported Artsmark package to schools across the city, so that schools who are interested in the arts can go on the journey together, support each other and share their experiences.

We are working with IVE (who deliver Artsmark in our region) to provide this. Create Sheffield have offered to subsidise the cost of Artsmark by 50% for schools, and IVE have offered a fabulous 2-year free support package of bespoke CPD and training.  We are delighted to report that we have 27 schools signed up to go on an Artsmark journey together over the next two years.  Some will start in March, others in September.
There are only 3 more places - let us know if your school would like to join our gang!

We are also making sure that our arts and cultural Partners are able to support schools on their Artsmark journey too, by encouraging them to sign up as Artsmark Partners (more info in section 4, below).

List of 27 signed up Sheffield Artsmark schools:

  • Infant Schools: Dobcroft, Halfway, Hunter’s Bar, Royd, Stocksbridge
