AMRC reports now available on AMRC Open Research
If you're one of the 25 member charities using AMRC Open Research you can publish your charity's reports and documents on the platform. We’ve tested it out for our reports and love that they now have Digital Object Identifiers, are citable and that we can track how often they are viewed and downloaded.

Researchers facing 'shocking' levels of stress
Thousands of researchers have taken part in the largest ever survey into experiences of research culture. The Wellcome survey found that despite a majority agreeing they are proud to be scientists, four out of five researchers believe high levels of competition are creating aggressive working conditions and nearly half feel pressured into working long hours.

Access over 400 UK health datasets via new Gateway
The first phase of the Health Data Research Innovation Gateway, a tool to help researchers and innovators to search, discover and enquire to request access to over 400 UK health datasets, is now live and useable. Health Data Research UK is encouraging users to try it out and feedback their experience via an online survey.

Orthopaedic Research UK invests in biotech start up
Orthopaedic Research UK has announced that biotech start-up, Renovos, will receive the first investment from its newly launched the Ronald Furlong Fund, a partnership between ORUK and HS. The £140,000 investment will support the biotech entrepreneurs in solving a key unmet need for patients with painful and debilitating bone and joint conditions.

EU Withdrawal Bill to gain Royal Assent
The European Union (Withdrawal Agreement) Bill completed its passage through the House of Lords over the last fortnight, with a handful of amendments subsequently defeated in the Commons. The Bill will now receive Royal Assent in time for the 31 January deadline. The Lords had voted against the Government on three amendments.

Life Sciences Industrial Strategy progress update
The Office for Life Sciences has published an update on progress made over the last two years with the ambitions from the 2017 Life Sciences Industrial strategy. In the area of clinical trials, the Experimental Cancer Medicine Centres have published work – developed alongside patients, charities and industry – to provide guidance on the design and delivery of complex, innovative trial design.

BHF urges government to address air pollution in the UK
The British Heart Foundation says air pollution presents a 'major public health emergency' which must be urgently addressed by the new government. It is calling for World Health Organisation guidelines on particulate matter to be adopted into UK law, and met by 2030. This follows the launch of their 'You're full of it' campaign, highlighting the dangerous levels of particulate matter in UK towns and cities.
