4070 and Work at the Roundhouse Work on restoring the cab of steam locomotive 4070 is continuing. The more we do the more help we need to complete this job.
Drafting help with making working sketches of parts and assemblies removed. Drafting of bills of materials Collecting and organizing existing mechanical dwgs.
The roof vent panels and framing need to come down for media blasting and checked for operation.
The bronze cast window frames need to be soda blasted and the mechanicals returned to working condition.
This Saturday we may be able to tack in 2 bottom panels and begin removing the next panels for replacement.
4070s mechanical oiler has been disassembled. While we wait for parts to be machined, the gear box needs a through cleaning.
In an effort to keep the work moving along, we are making a midweek crew call. Wednesday evenings 4PM-8PM starting 2/12/20.

Many thanks to the volunteers who worked to get the waste tank out of the America car. We have found some stainless sheets in the roundhouse, so we may only need a few from the Amtrak Kitchen car. Notice any changes in the lunch room? We are ready to begin installing water and electrical lines. If you have any skills with conduit or plumbing, your help is needed.
Reminder: Saturday 2/15 is our mandatory safety class. Members new and old, who work at the roundhouse must attend an annual safety class.
