Three Georgia Tech faculty members were named 2020 IEEE Fellows. Congratulations to ML@GT's Vivek Sarkar and Richard Fujimoto on this well-deserved honor.

Georgia Tech and Facebook Speed Up AI Training by Culling the Weak 

Georgia Tech and Facebook researchers have created an artificial intelligence system that can navigate a 3D environment from a starting point to goal with a 99.9% success rate & few mistakes. This work will be presented this spring at ICLR 2020.

Machine Learning Examines Effects of Sea Levels Rising to Help Communities Better Plan for Future Generations

Sea levels are rising and will impact more than just coastal cities. Researchers from Georgia Tech, the University of Southern California, and the University of Waterloo are using machine learning to help city planners better plan for shifting migration patterns to inland cities like Atlanta.

Goel Receives Award from USG Board of Regents

Congratulations to Professor Ashok Goel for earning a University System of Georgia Board of Regents 2020 Regents' Award, which recognizes his profound impact on the evolution of online learning.

NSF Grants Vempala $500,000 Research Award 

Thanks to a $500,000 grant from the National Science Foundation, ML@GT professor Santosh Vempala, and a colleague at Columbia University will develop a theory to understand how the brain functions from a computational perspective.
