Dear Families,
When parents are involved in school matters, children tend to make a greater effort and do better. They learn with more enthusiasm and motivation. Get involved in what they learn. Ask questions and show them your interest. Listen and pay attention to what they say. Connect new learning to everyday life so that it becomes more significant and meaningful to them. They will value the excitement of learning, and the privilege of a good education.
Encourage responsibility and support homework assignments, which have a purpose. Implement a daily routine, set aside a schedule and supervise that homework is completed. Plan ahead to face the work load to study for exams. Divide it into smaller doses or daily tasks to study more efficiently.
Remember to praise their accomplishments. Let them know how you value their hard work, effort and responsibility. Provide the necessary support and encouragement if they need to improve in their weak areas. If you need to, set up a meeting with teachers. Your involvement will make a difference and will be greatly appreciated by your children. Every child can improve and every parent can help. Help prepare in advance to be successful.
Making friends is a vital part of growing up. In order to have a good friend, we need to be a good friend. February is the month to celebrate friendship. It is an excellent opportunity to encourage children to get along with others in positive ways, and build good, lasting relationships.
Praise respect, acceptance of individual differences, inclusion and empathy. Acknowledge when children apologize, help others or settle arguments without aggression. Discourage violence when they feel mad, frustrated or irritable, as well as actions that ridicule, harm or make fun of others.
Children rely on us adults, to learn positive skills to relate well with their peers. Let´s help them learn how to build good relationships through our example.
Happy Valentine´s Day!
