Orange Avenue Overlay Summit

The Chamber’s mission is to “convene people and ideas for the benefit of our businesses and community.” For that reason, an opportunity like the adoption of an overlay district for our cherished Orange Avenue corridor matters to us. In fact, the Orange Avenue Overlay matters to all of us

However, the facts that define an overlay district, the rationale for adopting one, and how this additional zoning framework would incentivize quality future development and redevelopment, have been misrepresented by some in our community. The truth is, an overlay along this gateway to downtown Winter Park would create meaningful spaces and public places to be enjoyed for generations to come.

At its first reading on January 27th the Commission voted to approve adoption of an Orange Avenue Overlay District. The effectiveness and spirit of the overlay were changed dramatically by amendments. Prior to the second and final reading of the proposal on March 9, the Chamber is holding an Overlay Summit to dispel the myths and learns the facts about the proposal developed by Winter Park’s Overlay Steering Committee and advocate for the most robust possible overlay ordinance.

Join us Wednesday, March 4 for the Overlay Summit
