Local media reps provide suggestions on how to get coverage for your meaningful community work. Come prepared to present a story idea no more than one minute long (only one pitch per nonprofit). Plenty of time for 1:1 questions too.

Join us at the Mill for the 2020 continuation of the Wake Up! with United Way breakfast series. On Thursday, February 13, 2020 from 7:45 - 9:00am we will tackle the topic "Food Security in Monroe County" with speakers Julio Alonso, Executive Director of Hoosier Hills Food Bank; Vicki Pierce, Executive Director of Community Kitchen of Monroe County; and Brandon Shurr, IU Division of Student Affairs and MCCSC School Board. On Thursday, March 12, 2020, we will be discussing Effects on the Brain: Trauma, Injury, and Substance Abuse.

The Wake Up! with United Way 2020 season has been a collaborative project of United Way of Monroe County and Indiana University's Political and Civic Engagement Program.

BTCC is a network of organizations and individuals collaborating to provide training, build relationships, and promote actionable change to address the root causes of social problems in Monroe County. This Quarterly Gathering is open to all community members and will include a presentation and discussion on inequities in housing and education. This presentation, led by educational equity researchers, the Bloomington Housing Authority, and nonprofit South Central Indiana Housing Opportunities, will paint a picture of this issue in Bloomington and then present next steps to address local inequities in housing and educational access.

Breakfast is on your own. For parking, the closest and cheapest option for parking is the Walnut St. garage (entrance on Walnut St. between 7th Street and 8th Street). There is also metered parking available.

This monthly meeting is for Development Directors or other staff whose primary role is fundraising.  Discussion topics are generated by the group.  To learn more and for upcoming dates, please contact Meagan Niese at meaganniese@cfbmc.org. You may also email Meagan to be added to the list serve and receive regular reminders.  Meeting times vary from month to month.

BE MORE AWARDS
The Be More Awards is our community's way of honoring and applauding the outstanding, but often unrecognized efforts of our community volunteers. Ten awards will be presented during the community celebration honoring all of the nominees at the event on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at 7:00pm at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater.  A $500 check will be presented to each of the recipient's volunteer organizations in honor of their outstanding service.

The WonderLab Early Childhood Educator (ECE) is a key member of the WonderLab Education Department and museum education team. Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington
Position: Good Character & Citizenship Director
Working Hours/Status: 40 hours per week - Monday through Friday (11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. during the school year, weekends and additional hours as necessary; summer hours will vary)
Pay Rate: $14.42/hr plus benefits
The Good Character & Citizenship Director will schedule and supervise programs, track members’progress, and complete reports for the Good Character & Active Citizenship priority outcome. The Good Character & Citizenship Director will be the lead staff in the Teen Center and supervise support staff in the area. This position is responsible for ensuring that our members have a safe, positive environment while in the Teen Center. The Good Character & Active Citizenship Director will work intimately with all programs designed for members 12 and older. The Good Character & Citizenship Director will work with all age groups in this priority outcome by designing and ensuring implementation of service projects throughout the facility.

Working Hours/Status: Weekend Shifts
You will assist our clients in leading self-directed lives and contributing to society. DSPs assist with activities of daily living and encourage our clients to exhibit attitudes and behaviors that promote community inclusion.Our ideal DSP is someone who is highly-motivated, and enjoys working with others. This is definitely not a desk job, so you need to like staying active at work and appreciate variety in your daily routine. Qualified applicants must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. Experience working in healthcare or human services is preferred, but not required. Applicants must also have a valid driver’s license and be eligible for coverage through Stone Belt’s insurance.

Extensive training and job shadowing are provided; therefore, previous experience working with individuals with disabilities is not required. All that is needed is a calm, considerate personality, and the desire to work in a positive and uplifting environment.

Position: Overnight Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Working Hours/Status: Overnight Shifts
Overnight shifts at Stone Belt allow you to work in a relatively quiet, relaxed atmosphere while providing essential services to the incredible individuals we support. Overnight staff perform housekeeping duties like laundry, cleaning counters, and organizing before helping get people ready to start their day. Qualified applicants must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. Experience working in healthcare or human services is preferred, but not required. Applicants must also have a valid driver’s license and be eligible for coverage through Stone Belt’s insurance.
