Hi <<First Name>>,

On 11th February 2020, 100% Renewables attended the Business Council for Sustainable Development (BCSD) Australia’s Clear the Air  Climate Action Summit, held at Parliament House in Canberra. The event was an opportunity to take stock of where we are as a country and within major sectors of the economy in terms of our response to the challenges of climate change. Read about the highlights of this 1-day conference here.

In Part 3 of our tertiary education blog post series, 15 Australian universities have officially committed to the Sustainable Development Goals or ‘SDGs’. Education and research are explicitly recognised in a number of the SDGs and universities have a direct role in addressing these. Has your uni made The University Commitment to the SDGs?

In other news, 100% Renewables is proud to have played a role in helping both Coffs Harbour City Council and Tweed Shire Council with the development of their renewable energy strategies. We look forward to both councils' continued success in reaching their renewable energy targets in coming years. Have a read of our blog posts below, which describe both councils' solar journey.

If you would like to read the draft emissions reduction plan we developed for the City of Canada Bay Council, follow this link and click on the "DRAFT EMISSIONS REDUCTION PLAN" button. The strategy encompasses a plan for both Council operations, as well as the community.

More organisations are going 100% renewable. The City of Adelaide has revealed it will power all of its operations and council-owned facilities with 100 per cent renewable energy via a power purchase deal with Flow Power that will kick off in July. The deal will see Flow Power supply all of the energy needs of South Australia’s capital city council from a mix of locally generated wind and solar power, including from the Clements Gap wind farm in the state’s mid-north, and new solar farms on the Eyre Peninsula and in the south-east.

And the Science-Based Targets Initiative has reached a significant milestone: More than 800 companies have now set themselves science-based targets. This group is growing larger and more ambitious each day as more businesses are rising to the challenge by embracing ambitious targets.

Part 3 University leadership - SDGs

One part of climate change action leadership is committing to the Sustainable Development Goals or ‘SDGs’. Engaging with the SDGs will benefit universities by helping them demonstrate the impact a university can have, capture demand for SDG-related education, build new partnerships, access new funding streams, and define a university that is responsible and globally aware. In this article, we have a list of 15 universities who have officially committed to...

Tweed Shire Council's REAP ramps up

In 2017, Tweed Shire Council adopted its Renewable Energy Action Plan (REAP), which was underpinned by the Renewable Energy Study developed by 100% Renewables. The REAP sets targets to self-generate 25% of Council’s energy from renewables by 2022 and 50% by 2025. The council has implemented major energy-saving initiatives over several years. Now, it is turning its attention to rolling out more solar PV systems...
