1.  Attendance rebounds at Disney's U.S. theme parks

Attendance and revenue were up at Disney's theme parks in the first quarter of the company's new fiscal year, Disney reported this afternoon. However, the temporary closure of Disney's parks in China looms over the company's near future, with the company assuming a two-month closure for those parks.

2.  Disney expects coronavirus outbreak to keep Shanghai and Hong Kong theme parks closed for two months

The temporary closure of Shanghai Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland due to China’s coronavirus outbreak could result in a $175 million loss in Disney’s upcoming second quarter, Disney chief financial officer Christine McCarthy said. The loss assumes the closure of both parks for two months, McCarthy said.

4.  Walibi Belgium: two new attractions, but no increase in visitor numbers

The arrival of two new attractions in Walibi Belgium has not led to more visitors. The Belgian amusement park opened the interactive popcorn Revenge dark ride and the Fun Pilot children's roller coaster last year . In addition, two themed areas were refurbished and three new haunted houses were added during the Halloween season.

5.  Ghibli Theme Park Teases Areas Inspired by Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, More

Studio Ghibli revealed more details and concept design illustrations for its planned Ghibli Park on Tuesday. The illustrations show the planned layout of the Ghibli no Daisōko Area (Giant Ghibli Storehouse) and Seishun no Oka Area (Hill of Youth).
 

6.  Sbarro partners with International Theme Park Services, Inc.

Mr. Dennis Speigel,  founder & CEO of International Theme Park Services, Inc. (ITPS), based in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mr. David Karam, Chief Executive Officer of Sbarro, based in Columbus, Ohio, announced a partnership to introduce and market Sbarro pizza to the leisure industry, including theme parks, amusement parks, water parks, family entertainment centers, aquariums, zoos, and more. 

7.  Plopsa Coo stops investments in 2020: construction of new attractions and themed areas is uncertain

Plopsa Coo has stopped its expansion plans for the time being due to plans to increase taxes by the local CitizenS party in Belgium. At first, visitors cannot look forward to new attractions, hotels and themed areas.

8.  Final track piece installed on California's first floorless dive coaster

The final track piece has been bolted in place, and the first train has gone on the track for California's first floorless dive coaster - Emperor at SeaWorld San Diego.

9.  Universal Orlando gets eerie Mardi Gras-themed retailtainment store

Universal Orlando Resort has debuted a new Mardi Gras-themed tribute store at Universal Studios Florida to mark 25 years of the Mardi Gras celebration. The retailtainment attraction takes guests through New Orleans.

10.  Santa Monica Pier Roller Coaster Getting a Route 66 Makeover

The much-photographed roller coaster on the Santa Monica Pier is getting a makeover that will turn the ride into a tribute to Route 66, complete with cars modeled after classic roadsters, amusement park officials said Tuesday.

11.  Park at OWA Reopens for 2020 Season Feb. 8

After a month of sprucing up, Team Member training and new improvements, OWA’s amusement park will reopen its gates for the year this Saturday, Feb. 8 at 11am.

12.  Adlabs Entertainment reports Q3FY20 Results

Adlabs Entertainment Limited, which operates Imagica - Theme Park, Water Park, Snow Park and a family hotel Novotel Imagica Khopoli, announced its unaudited Financial Results for the Quarter ending 31st December 2019.

Another formerly exclusive menu item from one The Wizarding World of Harry Potter land has made the trip across the country to another.

14.  New marquee installed for Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway

Disney's Imagineers last night oversaw the installation of the new Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway marquee at Disney's Hollywood Studios' Chinese Theater.

15.  Owner of French amusement park deceased

The owner of a French amusement park has recently passed away. Arthur Wernert, the boss of Didi'Land Paradisland, died last Thursday. The park confirms this on social media following reports from local media. Wernert had been sick for some time. He turned 71 years old.

1.  Topgolf To Unveil New One-Story, Open-Concept Venue At Masters In Augusta

Topgolf is breaking the mold in the golf industry, again.  The golf-entertainment giant – known for its three-story, new-age driving ranges that mix technology and socialization — is introducing a new 36-bay, single-floor venue in Augusta, Georgia, during this year’s Masters Tournament. The communal concept has a backyard-style area, where guests can listen to live music, play mini golf and yard games like cornhole, gather around firepits, and eat together at picnic tables.

2.  New Interactive Alien Museum Rockets Into Houston, Taking Over a Shuttered Big Box Store’s Space — Ready for Seismique?

Houston.  Fall 2020.  A mysterious alien spaceship has inexplicably crashed into a NASA government building. His new 40,000 square foot experiential art museum lands in Space City in the fall, giving visitors a fully interactive experience throughout a space which formerly housed a since shuttered national big box store.

3.  RCI Adventure Products announces two new Sky Trail attractions in South Korea

RCI Adventure Products, a leading adventure attractions company, has announced that two new Sky Trail attractions will open in South Korea this April, thanks to its partners Climb Korea Co., Ltd. and Zipline Korea, Inc.

4.  A Day out with Dhvani Bhanushali at KidZania Mumbai

Pop sensation Dhvani Bhanushali recently spent time with the adolescents from Salaam Bombay Foundation at an event hosted by KidZania Mumbai, a global edutainment theme park for families. The young starlet celebrated the success of her recently released song Na Ja Tu, which has garnered more than 23 million views.          

5.  Kajal Aggarwal unveils her wax figure at Madame Tussauds Singapore

Actor Kajal Aggarwal has been immortalised with a wax figure at the popular Madame Tussauds gallery in Singapore, thereby becoming the first actress from the south Indian film industry to be given this honour. She follows in the footsteps of other actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma, Deepika Padukone, and other Bollywood stars to have their statues made at Madame Tussauds.

6.  Large entertainment center coming to Oxford

A large family entertainment center is on its way to Oxford.  The owners held a groundbreaking Friday, so construction will likely begin soon.  The two buildings of the business will house activities such as bowling, laser tag, mini-putt golf, climbing ropes, a restaurant, an arcade and a large track for go-karts.  All of this sits on about five acres and comprises 58,000 square feet.

7.  Navrtar's VR immerses you and your friends in the game with the ultimate co-op experience

Navrtar is a free roaming VR arcade and bar where you and up to four friends get to work together to survive a zombie infestation, fight an alien invasion or stop and bank heist.  Also after you’ve played you can sit back at the bar, discuss your scores and make the loser buy the first round of drinks.

8.  Urban Air Adventure Park Soars Into Port Richey With Grand Opening

PRNewswire/ -- Urban Air Adventure Park is pleased to announce the grand opening of the new Port Richey location at 9560 US-19. The grand opening festivities will kick off on Friday, February 7 at 5 p.m. with a special VIP event for first responders and their families as well as active duty military and their families. The doors will open to the public for the first time on Saturday, February 8 at 10 a.m.

9.  Tree top adventure park opens in West Sacramento

With the opening of Tree Top Sac in West Sacramento last week, there’s a new way for Yolo County residents and visitors to test their limits while having some fun in the great outdoors.  Marin County native Johana Stranner is one of the adventure park’s owners.

10.  LMN Architects announces reopening of Seattle Asian Art Museum

LMN Architects has announced that the Seattle Asian Art Museum will reopen this month, following a $56 million renovation and expansion of the 1930s Art Deco attraction in Volunteer Park.  According to LMN Architects, the Seattle Asian Art Museum is reopening on February 8, 2020, with regular hours at the museum beginning on February 12.

12.  With travelers unable to visit due to the coronavirus outreak, China's museums put exhibitions online

Chinese travelers can't visit their country's museums right now. So the museums are bringing the exhibits to them -- virtually.  Museums around the country have been forced to temporarily close their doors due to the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak.  In response, China's National Cultural Heritage Administration (NCHA) has asked them to stay active on social media and offer their services digitally.

Vortex Aquatic Structures International, the global water play provider, opened its new Montréal headquarters at the end of 2019, allowing it to expand its manufacturing capabilities.

3.  Great Wolf Lodge eyes Jackson for new indoor water park, officials say

Great Wolf Lodge indoor water park is nearing a deal to open a new resort in Jackson.  The Jackson Chamber and Visit Jackson on Tuesday announced the city is "99%" of the way there on a deal for Great Wolf to open a location in Jackson.  The new facility would be a $150 million investment by the resort company, with an estimated construction start date in the summer of 2021. Construction would take 18-20 months.

4.  Coney Island to add new hydroplayground called The Challenge Zone

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Coney Island announces its first new addition after closing its rides in 2019. The park will add the Challenge Zone which is a hydroplayground.

1.  Animals safe after fire in building at Kansas City Zoo

The Kansas City Zoo says all animals are “safe and accounted for" after a fire in a building that houses bat-eared foxes, meerkats and other small African animals when they aren't in their outdoor enclosures.

2.  Prague now has Europe's largest jellyfish aquarium

Check out the beautifully coloured creatures of Prague's recently opened marine attraction.  Visitors look at jellyfish swimming in a giant spherical tank at the World of Jellyfish aquarium in Prague. The World of Jellyfish has 38 aquariums and 10,000 jellyfish of all sizes.

3.  San Antonio Zoo will feed animals a cockroach named after your ex

If a broken relationship is bugging you out as Valentine’s Day approaches, the San Antonio Zoo is serving up snack-sized catharsis!  The zoo is hosting its first-ever “Cry Me A Cockroach” event this Valentine’s Day. According to a press release from the San Antonio Zoo, guests will be able to purchase a live cockroach between now and February 13. 

4.  Hattiesburg Zoo construction: The giraffes are coming. Here's a look at what's being built

There's $3.4 million of construction going on at the zoo as officials there get ready for the giraffes — and hyenas too. The giraffe exhibit has been a dream of Rick Taylor's, executive director of the Hattiesburg Convention Commission, since January 2018.

5.  Zoo Miami Welcomes Baby Meerkats For First Time in Its History

For the first time in the facility's history, two meerkats were born and are being successfully raised at Zoo Miami.  Their mother is an 8-year-old meerkat named Yam Yam who came to Zoo Miami from Busch Gardens in February of 2012. The father could be any one of three males who share the exhibit with Yam Yam, a set of 6-year-old brothers named Gizmo, Joe and Diego.

6.  Antwerp Zoo is distributing free tickets due to construction work

The Antwerp Zoo comes with a good deal for visitors. Those who visit the zoo in the near future may come back again for free. Visitors can be affected by renovations. For that reason everyone receives a free drink and a free ticket.

7.  Size matters! What drives zoo attendance and how does footfall impact conservation?

Scientists from Trinity College Dublin, Species360 and NUI Galway have quantified what drives attendance to zoos by assessing how variations in animal collections affect footfall. Crucially, they link their findings to the contributions made to conservation efforts in situ (in the wild), and find that zoos are making significant, positive impacts on our attempts to conserve biodiversity.

8.  Baltimore Aquarium sea turtle ‘Calypso’ dies suddenly

Officials at the National Aquarium in Baltimore are trying to determine why a sea turtle who had been in its care for nearly 20 years died unexpectedly over the weekend.  The National Aquarium announced the death of female sea turtle Calypso in a tweet on Monday.

9.  Temple: Aquarium hasn’t filed necessary permits for Feb. 24 opening

The 7 Seas Aquarium announced the facility will open Feb. 24 at the Temple Mall, but officials have not filed for the necessary city permits, Temple spokeswoman Laurie Simmons said Tuesday.  Simmons said the city of Temple’s Building Inspections and Permits Department initially met with the aquarium’s general curator Fidel Junco in November, noting how he would need a commercial building remodeling permit, including electrical and plumbing.

10.  Shedd Aquarium brings science to the classroom with new 'Learning Labs'

The Shedd Aquarium is on the move. The popular Chicago museum is now traveling to classrooms, bringing hands-on science activities and demonstrations.  Mari Oates and Marcie Orenstein, both learning specialists at the Shedd, visited ABC7 Chicago Tuesday to illustrate the new "Learning Labs" program.
