Event Name: Camera Trapping Workshop: Study Design and Data Analysis

Date & Time: 04/27- 05/08

Info: This two-week workshop, led by experts in the field, focuses on the use of camera traps for estimating animal density and occupancy probability, particularly for wildlife management and conservation.

By the end of this course, participants should be able to select the appropriate analytical framework to address their research questions, choose and deploy the right equipment, collect and analyze data, and troubleshoot throughout all stages of study.

Montgomery Botanical Center is currently accepting applications from undergraduates (or recent graduates) for two paid internship positions

Students will conduct real-world experiences as they work independently and with staff on research projects and botanical garden horticulture. 

Focused on palms and cycads, the Montgomery Botanical Center’s population-based, documented and scientific collections are derived from mainly wild-collected specimens and provide a myriad of opportunities for research and investigation. 

Internships require a commitment of 20 hours per week over the months of May through August.

The Everglades Foundation is looking for a graduate in environmental sciences to work on a water quality project related to Everglades restoration. This is a 12-month position located at their Palmetto Bay, Florida office, starting as soon as possible. The successful candidate is expected to have basic knowledge of hydrology and water quality with advanced skills in statistics. Hypothesis testing, time series analysis and geospatial analysis with ArcGIS is critical for this short-term position.

The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science is seeking an Outreach and Field Trip Manager. This position has direct oversight of programs focused on serving audiences both on and off site through programs that align with shared missions and areas of museum focus in addition to establishing new programmatic revenue streams. Examples include (but are not limited to): Scouting partnerships, overnight programs, connections with community organizations, aligning community partners with established program offerings and development of new programs. Additionally, the candidate will aid with the development and lead the implementation of a strategy for reservations for outreach, field trips and other educational programs.
