Newsletter - 7 February 2020
Vol. 7. Issue 20
This week, we saw our elementary students shine once again during the latest elementary school assembly. Grade 2 students spoke to the audience about international mindedness and different cultures 'Around the World'.

It was also the week that we saw Nord Anglia launch an exciting new student-led  podcast series. The series launched globally on Wednesday and each of the seven episodes are around 25 minutes long. In the first series, two talented Nord Anglia students interview very special guests, such as Daniel Gilbert – CEO of Brainlabs, Deborah Ellis – Critically acclaimed author and activist, Lord David Puttnam – Oscar-winning film producer and Andrew Jack – Global Education Editor at the Financial Times. You can learn more and listen to the podcasts here >>>

Next week, we look forward to the daily themes as part of the PTSA & NAISR STUCO-run event, "Love Is In The Air" , in the lead up to Valentine's day. This will be a great opportunity to show your appreciation of friends, family and staff here in our NAISR community. You can read more about it below.

Finally, a message from our Front Desk: If your child will not attend a day of school or will miss part of the day for any reason, e.g. a doctor appointment, you must let our front desk team know in advance by phone (+31 (0)10 422 5351) or by email to attendance@naisr.nl.

All the best from our family to yours.

Care Backpacks for JBRR
ES & MS STUCO have begun working on a new initiative. When students last visited JBRR (child protection), they asked what they needed the most and it was explained to the students that often they need to rush children from their homes who are in danger or distress with no time to collect their belongings. So our students have decided to put together emergency backpacks which contain necessary and useful items that these children might require. This way, JBRR can give something to the child that is being withdrawn from their home as a comfort and also a need. Each class from K - Grade 8 will decide who will bring what (backpacks, soft toy, toothbrush, toothpaste, notebook etc.) and will aim to fill at least 5 Care Backpacks per grade level.
Coronavirus
The overriding priority for the school will always be to protect the health and safety of our students and staff. Please read the full health update below.

Two successful evenings
Thank you to everyone who attended one (or both) of the performing arts evenings last week. Congratulations to all students who performed and to the four Grade 11 IB students who successfully organised these two wonderful events; Melissa, Alexander, Sophia and Jamila. We were all impressed with the performances and how well both events had been organised.

Lost Library Book?
Any book checked out from the library must be returned by the deadline. However, we understand that in some cases books might get lost. In the case of a lost library book, the best thing to do is contact the Library by sending an email to maria.sorondo@naisr.nl. If the book is lost or damaged, the options are: replace it with a hardcover version or pay the fine established by the Library. Thank you on behalf of the Library borrowers who also want to enjoy this book.
