Rabbi’s Message

This week’s Parasha, Beshallach, includes most famously Shirat Hayam, the Song at the Sea (which includes the line “Mi Chamocha” that we sing at almost every service). The song takes up almost all of Chapter 15 of Exodus, and also includes another line of song: Ozi V'zimrat Yah – “My strength and song is Yah.” This line shows up in Hallel, which we sing during major holidays, so some of you may already be familiar with it. During these turbulent times, I want to offer us this song, to steady us with “strength and song” as we do our work in the world.
