…….Attack of the Russian Bots…….. Really!  I happened to mention President Trump in the last issue of this newsletter, and, immediately, a swarm of Russian “bots” attacked me and my newsletter.  Fortunately I have a very sharp webmaster who caught the "denial of service" attack on our server and saved the day. Russian bots. Me. Swarms of them. Yuck!

WE LOST A HERO, BIGGER THAN LIFE…

On Sunday, January 26th, the copter crashed, killing Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna, plus 7 others.  Dense fog.  All of us questioning, why was that helicopter flying?  The weather was not good.
The pilot was a pro.

Kobe was a charismatic superstar, who spoke four languages and was learning a fifth.  After a few accusations of misbehavior, he turned to the spiritual and learned how to meditate from Deepak Chopra.  He retired in 2916 with record-setting accomplishments on the basketball court, then went on to become a creative genius and international ambassador with big plans.  Above all else, he loved his wife and four daughters, the youngest only months old. He lived what he taught. His death will inspire countless others to do even more.  The world will never forget him! ! ! !

ANOTHER SUPERSTAR GONE. . . .

As the year ended in 2019, Baba Ram Dass, spiritual guru, who confused as many as he enlightened, died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 88.

Born Richard Alpert, often associated with the likes of Timothy Leary and Allen Ginsberg, the counter-culture of the sixties either stoned on LSD or some other drug, he proved himself a true leader who cared about people cleaning up their lives and helping others.  His Dass Foundation was devoted to teaching people about “Love Serve Remember.” His legacy extends past the millions he influenced, to a simple truth - compassion. He taught that it was only through compassion and service that one could truly advance spiritually. Thank you, Ram Dass for shaking up the world! ! ! !

Many of us have our own Ram Dass story.  Here’s mine:

In the mid-sixties I was dashing with my family across Julia Davis Park in Boise, Idaho, headed for the zoo and picnic tables.  I was last, lugging a large basket of food.. As I ran I noticed a slender man all in white sitting at the edge of the bandshell stage.  He had a mike and I could hear his words - about other worlds, other planes of existence, other ways of living, other parts of ourselves - the real us.  Maybe six people comprised his audience. A little old lady, front row center, walked up to the stage and craned her neck to yell: “Mister Dass, I see all of that whenever I crochet.”  He quickly countered: “Of course, you don’t have to take drugs to see other worlds. You really don’t need drugs.” I had stopped to hear him, and was stunned to witness the dialog between the two.  “I do it too,” I muttered, “and I don’t need drugs either.” That moment was huge for me, like a thunderbolt from heaven. It was my first introduction to metaphysics, the esoteric, psychic things, and “knowing.”  After that Sunday picnic, I “turned heaven and earth” to find out more, meet people, read, take classes, learn, do. I was hungry, but not for food. What kept me safe and sane were the words and cover of Ram Dass’s first book, BE HERE NOWWhenever in doubt, confused, or lost, those three words would pop up in the view-screen of my mind.  Even today, BE HERE NOW brings me back, front and center, to what’s important.  Thank you, Ram Dass, for leading by example - especially for those like me who never took drugs, nor did we want to.  Never needed ‘em.

SOME NEAR-DEATH CASES:

On my website at www.pmhatwater.com, Near-Death Cases section, there is a new one, and it is long.  I call her Anne. Her words of praise and joy for what she learned about the real truth of life literally gallop off the page, she is so excited.  What she shares is raw “in your face.” She repeats and explains again and again, as she views the challenges in her life - job, money, relationships, living - differently.  I wanted you to experience what I often do when I encounter an experiencer. No, they’re not all like Anne, but a large percentage are. I was. Hearing Ram Dass in the sixties and being utterly changed by my encounter with him, does not even compare with having had a near-death experience.  Read her story, then feel her story, and you’ll know what I mean.

AMAZING THINGS TO SURPRISE YOU!

  • One giant tortoise, Diego is his name, fathered about 2,000 baby tortoises since 1970, thus saving a declining population in the Galapagos.  He was retired from the breeding program just a few weeks ago. He is more than 100 years old. Who says old guffers can’t have fun?

  • Betelgeuse is about to explode.  One of the brightest stars in the sky, actually the red star that forms the right shoulder of the constellation Orion, is rapidly dimming.  As it enters its final stage, its atoms and elements will turn to iron. Then POW!!! Betelgeuse will explode into a supernova that will be as bright as the moon for several weeks, glowing so fiercely it should be visible day and night.  Don’t hold your breath, though. What we call “soon,” stars say “don’t be hasty.”

  • A face in ancient gum.  You heard me right. Scientists have recreated the face of an ancient hunter-gatherer using DNA extracted from a piece of “chewing gum” that was spat out some 5,600 years ago.  The lump of chewed birch tar was found at a site in southern Denmark, alongside pieces of wood and wild animal bones. The chewer: a woman who had dark skin, dark hair, and blue eyes.  Whoa……………..all that from a wad of gum?

  • The permafrost that covers much of the world’s frozen north is thawing so rapidly and releasing so much carbon into the atmosphere - that the Arctic is quickly becoming a major contributor to climate change.  Long dormant microbes in the icy ground . . . are waking up.

  • Night is fundamental to the delicate balance of life on Earth.  More people, more cars, and bigger cities means there’s more light in the sky. . . which is hurting wildlife, tree blooms, fireflies, turtles, life itself.  The newest craze for LED lights is hurting more than it helps. Just ask a Park Ranger what they think about LEDs.

THE YEAR OF THE RAT

According to Chinese Astrology, this is The Year Of The Rat.  In the English speaking world, rat conjures up negativity, like cunning, deceit, betrayal.  But to the Chinese, the rat is seen as an initiator who looks to the future expectantly, jumps in, and gets things going.  Success?

On the very day of the Lunar New Year celebration, China was struck by the coronavirus, and remains today in “lock-down.”  What seemed to be a great year ahead, great leaps in business and industry, reversed. What China now faces is “the power of shadows” - whatever we refuse to face comes back for review.   Last month I talked about the trigger point of January 12 for what lies ahead globally - especially in the United States as our Pluto Return (2020 - 2024) advances.  Right now we are facing our own “shadows” - the Presidency and how it works, our unbelievably high debt, the crush of American farming/water protection. Yes, we are prosperous, like China was.  Poof!!! No individual, no country, no ruler, can hide behind the shadow of what seems real, but isn’t. The good thing about shadows is they don’t last. Sooner or later, light pours in and changes everything.  For the better? That depends on us and how honest we are.

HELP IN COMING TIMES

  • Refer to the show I did with Alexis Brooks recently.  A “take-off” on January 12th as a “trigger” to the changing energy on this planet.  She had just returned from Australia where the challenges of January 12th were readily apparent:  https://youtu.be/DU4-6MfZxW8Her shows are always aimed at how we can embrace change in positive ways, as well as investigate “what’s really going on.”

  • Also follow along with Marla Hughes and her new podcast series about children.  She brings in some of the best, including two shows with Carol Bowman about children’s past lives.  You can contact her directly at mhodes@icloud.com, or catch what’s available on https://www.interviewswiththeinnocence.com/podcast.

  • Tiny labyrinths you can hold in your hand.  They are absolutely real and powerful and make a wonderful spiritual navigation tool.  I know, I have one - a gift. They can be purchased just about anywhere these days. Find out all you can about labyrinths, for they are a spiritual tool with many applications in various settings - like a floor mat in a rec room, or a full-blown model in a hospital garden to help patients.  They reduce stress, quiet the mind, open the heart. They can be a walking meditation, a path of power, a blueprint where psyche meets spirit.

Or they can sit nicely in the palm of your hand and smile at you.  Highly recommended as a stress reducer and as a way to touch your own soul.  There is an organization that trains people to facilitate labyrinth sessions/workshops.  Contact: Veriditas, 101 H Street, Suite D, Petaluma, CA 94952; (707) 283-0373, est. 2; www.veriditas.org

    Rev. Lauren Artress
introduced me to the power of the labyrinth as a spiritual tool decades ago.  She is today the Founder of Veriditas.

GUESS WHAT?

ALEX TREBEK,
HOST OF “JEOPARDY,” IS A MEMBER OF THE
NORTH HOLLYWOOD
CHURCH OF
RELIGIOUS SCIENCE;
HIS WIFE JEAN IS A SCIENCE OF MIND PRACTITIONER.

Both are totally devoted to the spiritual/metaphysical path and gain great comfort from prayer and meditation.  Jean says of her work:

“My responsibility is not personally to make healing happen.  God does the healing. My job is to use affirmative prayer to see beyond the appearance of imperfection and to focus on the truth of divine wholeness.  Disease, or any kind of imperfection, is only a temporary experience. A passing condition is not the ultimate truth or reality. Only God is ultimately real.  In affirmative prayer, I realize the truth of wholeness about a person or circumstance. This realization provides an avenue for healing.”

Kevin Todeschi, CEO of Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E. - Association of Research and Enlightenment - challenged all of us with his article in the January/March issue of “Venture Inward.”

Does the World Need Another Marshall Plan?

From the Harvard speech by Secretary of State George Marshall in 1947 - an unparalleled commitment by the United States to address the global situation was born and signed into law by then President Harry S. Truman.  Five percent of the gross domestic product was pledged to this endeavor, followed by 16 other countries doing all they could to support the Plan. More than 70 years later, the full impact of the Marshall Plan continues to be debated, saying that by the time the money was available European recovery was well underway.  Still, what can’t be debated is that all participating countries saw post-war economic improvement and a revitalization of agriculture and industry - plus a resurgence of hope. Do we need another one?

Is everything as great as it seems today?  Our American debt is sky-high, so is discontent.  Todeschi reminds us that “the readings suggested that chaos and turmoil throughout the globe would be healed only when the people of the earth would unite toward a common basis.”  He adds: “Just as the Marshall Plan of the twentieth century brought together a multitude of nations unified in a vision to address the problems that faced Europe after the war, our present-day circumstances suggest that the time has arrived for a twenty-first century plan on a grander scale.”       …...think about this…..

SOME REAL GOODIES……

From Lauren Zalewski:

Even in a life full of challenges like living with
chronic pain, there is always something to be
grateful for.

From Richard Bach:

The bond that links your true family is not one
of blood, but of respect and joy in each other’s
life.  Rarely do members of one family grow up
under the same roof.

The Fourteenth is Valentine’s Day.
Hug your heart and blow love kisses.
