We will not have AWANA this Sunday, February 2, but before our return on February 9 we will hold our “Build Day” for Grand Prix Racers.

We will hold the AWANA Grand Prix Build Day on February 8, between 1pm and 4:30. We’ll have tools and supplies in the gym for those who want help designing, cutting out or decorating their Grand Prix race car. Simple designs can be completed or more complicated designs can be laid out, cut and rough sanded, with time at home for finishing work. If you have tools and expertise, you do not have to participate in Build Day, but all cars must be completed by 1 March for Check Night.

We will start February AWANA nights with our round robin styled Board Game night on February 9. During the Games portion of the night the Clubbers will compete in teams in a timed rotation of board games.

On February 16, we will have our Canned Good Night where Clubbers can earn earn team points (50 pts for each can), for bringing in a canned good for donation. All of the donated canned goods will be given to a local food bank by the AWANA staff.

We will close the month with our “Inside Out” Night on February 23, a night where our Clubbers who wear their clothes inside out will earn team points.

Clubbers are encouraged to design, build, and paint their cars for the AWANA Grand Prix and they can attend the Grand Prix Build Day on Saturday, February 8 between 1 pm and 4:30 pm in the Capital Baptist Church Education Building Gymnasium. 

The Grand Prix Build Day is a special day where we have tools and volunteers who will assist children (with a parent or other caregiver) as they complete simple designs or cut out and begin work on more complicated designs that they can finish at home.

The 2020 AWANA Grand Prix will be held on Saturday, March 7 beginning at 1 pm.  There will be three racing divisions (Sparks, T&T, and Unlimited) and trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place finishers for speed and design in each competing division. Official Awana Grand Prix Car Kits can be ordered for $8 each and come in four different styled kits.
