Announcing the Gary Hyland Literary Scholarship Fund -
Emerging Writers' Bursary
Sage Hill is excited to work with the South Saskatchewan Community Foundation to offer the Gary Hyland Literary Scholarship Fund - Emerging Writers' Bursary. The award was first offered in 2019 to Saskatchewan writers Caitlin Arnal and Shannon McConnell who each received $500 awards.
"I was thrilled to be accepted to Sage Hill in 2019, but I knew money would be tight. The Gary Hyland Bursary gave me financial assistance and artistic validation to begin uncovering what I have to say."
- Caitlin Arnal
"As an emerging writer receiving the Gary Hyland Bursary allowed me to attend Sage Hill where I was surrounded by incredibly talented instructors and other writers. Being able to immerse myself in my work and hone my craft alongside other writers was an invaluable experience that I will carry with me as I continue to work on the manuscript that I started while at Sage Hill."
"While I never met Gary Hyland, his powerful legacy was clear through hearing stories about his accomplishments and care for the writing community. I am grateful to have been a recipient of this bursary and can’t wait to see how the legacy of Gary Hyland will continue to support emerging writers and providing them opportunities to learn and grow."
- Shannon McConnell
