Here you will access information on free or discounted opportunities for your family, a resource guide and updates about CIC events. Provide feedback via the monthly feedback form so that we can continue to provide the best support possible.

Who Are We?

Founded in 2015, Children of Incarcerated Caregivers (CIC) was created to enhance the lives of children impacted by incarceration through research, policy, and enrichment programs.

It’s Black History Month at the studio this weekend! It’s all free but reserving a time slot is required.

Explore the newly renovated and expanded museum free! Keep in mind that this program is very popular and you may wait in line to be admitted.

 Free Open Studio – Sculpting

Feb 28, 2020 | Minneapolis Institute of Art

Create a sculpture of your very own using clay, wire, and other materials. 1-3pm

YOUTH PROGRAMS

Saint Paul Right Track Program
February is the application window for this program that provides meaningful work experiences for youth, ages 14-21, who are from a low-income family or have a barrier to employment. The Right Track application for summer jobs is available online through February.

North Community Boxing Gym
This boxing gym, which opened in March 2016 as a safe place to teach fundamentals about life, character, nutrition, education, and boxing, is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit. Northside Boxing Club is much more than a boxing gym -- they are a family. Every weekday evening, the gym offers boxing classes, on-site tutoring, and a nutritious meal from the following restaurants: Bar La Grassa, Burch Steakhouse, 112 Eatery, and Barrio.
Located on 33rd and James Avenue in Minneapolis. 

Saint Paul Urban Tennis Program
This program builds, sustains and nourishes the physical and emotional health of each child who takes part by weaving the fun of tennis with practical health information, giving them the tools to be healthy in body and mind.

Engineering for Kids
Engineering for Kids brings the fun of science, technology, engineering, and math education to kids, ages 4 to 14, through exciting camps, after-school activities, parties, classes, and more. Young engineers have the opportunity to design, build, test, and refine their own creations in a safe and fun environment.

Girls on the Run
This 501 (c)3 non profit organization is dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.

Coureagous HeARTs
Illuminates youth as leaders while inspiring creativity, courage and collaboration throughout the whole community. 

Mia’s Youth Classes
Classes at Mia provide challenging hands-on art experiences that are enriched and inspired by works of art in the museum’s collection and special exhibitions. Led by qualified art instructors, museum classes offer young people a broad cultural view of art history, as well as fascinating insights into artists, techniques, and styles. Classes are priced on a sliding scale, and full scholarships are available!

AMICUS RECONNECT
Offers relationship-based services that are supportive, respectful, and empowering to anyone with a felony, gross misdemeanor, or misdemeanor on their record. They provide information, referrals, and specialized one-on-one planning tailored to the specific challenges that come with having a criminal background. They can help with housing, referrals to Project Reboot, transportation, clothing, voicemail, computers and phones.

NORTHPOINT HEALTH AND WELLNESS CENTER
Programs include an African American Men’s Project (AAMP) featuring life coaching, a re-entry program that addresses the personal developmental needs of ex-offenders re-entering society, and a book club called Black Men Reading. They also offer a Co Parent Court Program for people who are in and out of prison, helping them work with the other parent to find what is best for their child(ren).

PARENTING WITH PURPOSE
Offers parenting classes to parents in prison that focus on how to become better parents and restore and strengthen their family relationships. Offered in Faribault, Rush City, Lino Lakes and Hennepin County Detention Center for Women. They also offer a program called Brother’s Keeper/Sister’s Keeper that gives the parent a positive person to support them as they parent from prison or after release. In addition, they offer programs for kids whose parents are in prison. They have a youth mentoring program for children ages 5-25 with incarcerated parents and a monthly support group where peers can support each other and talk about the issues they face.
