POTLUCK at 12:00pm: 
Students are invited to attend a potluck at noon following the puja. Bring your

RICE SEEDLING SUTRA at 2:30pm
Geshe Sherap will teach the class on emptiness and dependent origination.

TWENTY-ONE PRAISES TO TARA
GESHE SHERAP
 

Geshe Tenzin Sherap will offer the Phalden Lhamo Puja and lead students in the Twenty-One Praises to Tara on Losar, February 24, 2020 at 7:00pm. 

The first day of the first lunar month of the Tibetan calendar is Losar.  

Losar is the first of fifteen days that commemorate Buddha's teachings and miracles that converted many students of other schools to Buddha's thought. The fifteenth day is called Chotrul Duchen.

Palden Lhamo is the protector of Tibet and the Gelug Order of Monks.  Palden Lhamo is a wrathful protector who rides a mule that has an eye on the left rump of the mule.

Daily Prayers, offerings and dedications are made by monks at center.

CHOTRUL DUCHEN - DAY OF MIRACLE


The first day of the fifteen miracles began on the new moon, now known as Losar. Each day for fifteen days, Buddha gave teachings and performed miracles in order subdued the followers of the six schools. 

The fifteenth day is known as the Day of Miracles, each day all actions are magnified millions of times. 

The Day of Miracles or Chotrul Duchen celebrates the subduing of the leaders of the six main philosophical schools who had challeneged Buddha to a contest of miraculous powers.

The 432 verses of Dhammapada have all the essential teachings of Buddha, which help one develop humility and reflection. The Dhammapada is a perennial source of inspiration and practical instruction for right living.

The Rice Seedling Sutra
The Rice Seedling Sutra is a short sutra of the Mahayana in which Buddha taught the twelve links of dependent origination. The sutra is presented as a discussion between two of the Buddha's principle disciples, Shariputra and Maitreya.
