Teaching & Practice: An Imaginative Introduction to Acts

Yesterday, Dave Lomas introduced our yearlong series on Acts, focusing on the foundations of the early church, and how we can learn from their example. (On this teaching series' page, you can find our recommended books on Acts.) In community, we will reflect on our own experiences of waiting on God, and practice being open to the Spirit through prayer and obedience.

Acts Reading Plan: Start Today

To kick off our yearlong study through the Book of Acts, our church is starting an 8-week reading plan today that will carry through March 28th. By spreading it over eight weeks, we want to intentionally provide the time to read slowly and meditatively through the text. In the article below, find the reading schedule, Bible study practice, and a downloadable guide for offline use.

Volunteers Needed: Valentine’s Day Party for Everett Families

As part of our year focused on renewal, Reality SF is leading an initiative called “Love Our Neighbors,” where we’ll host a special outreach event every month in 2020. In each quarter, we'll focus our efforts on one of four groups whom we feel called to support: youth, women, the homeless, and refugees/immigrants. In this quarter focused on youth, Reality SF will partner with Mobilize Love to host a Valentine's Day Party for the families of Everett Middle School! In addition to games, a bounce house, photo booth, and raffle prizes, we will provide food, free haircuts, and nail care. Register to volunteer to help us make this an amazing celebration. (And if you have special skills as a barber/stylist, nail tech, chef/cook, food server, or photographer, please let us know.)

Seek First Worship & Prayer Night: Feb. 23rd

At Annual Vision & Prayer, Dave shared about our vision to host worship and prayer nights once per quarter to instill a posture of intercession and prayer for renewal both in our church and in our city. We’re calling these Seek First Worship & Prayer Nights, and the first one will be on Sunday night, February 23rd at 6:30PM at Dolores Park Church! These events are open to all, so join us as we press into worship, intercession, and the things of the Spirit, such as prophecy, visions, words of knowledge, healing, and more.

Discipleship Courses: Winter Full, Spring Open

Discipleship Courses are short-term catalytic experiences to encourage and equip our church to be resilient disciples of Jesus. Our hope is for everyone in our church to participate in the core courses of Biblical Literacy, Core Christian Beliefs, Everyday Mystic Prayer Practices, and Vocation & Spiritual Gifts. While these courses are now full for the winter term, there is still space available in the spring-term courses, which begin on April 26th or May 3rd.

Save the Date: Ash Wednesday Service on February 26th

To begin the season of Lent in preparation for Easter, we will host an Ash Wednesday Service in partnership with Eucharist Church on February 26th. Similar to last year's service, attendees can expect times of prayer, song, Scripture reading, contemplation, confession, communion, and imposition of an ash cross upon the forehead as a sign of our mortality. Time and location details to be announced soon; for now, please add the date to your calendar.

Update: Wine for Communion with Juice Option

If you missed yesterday's gatherings, Dave announced that we will now offer wine during communion. Two reasons have led us to this decision: first, we seek to be a church rooted in the larger historic tradition of the Church, which has almost always used wine in communion; second, wine is naturally more hygienic than grape juice. Going forward, wine will be in a dark bowl at the center of each communion table, and a grape juice option will be available to the side in a white bowl.
